SHOREBIRDS GAME NOTES: 8/2 @ West Virginia

PREVIEW: Following a three games to one series loss to Lexington, the ‘Birds open a four-game series against the West Virginia Power. Delmarva has dropped eight of their last 11 games to fall seven games out of first place. The ‘Birds have lost three straight series to Hickory, Lakewood and Lexington. West Virginia has split their last two series and enter in a tie for fifth, eight games back of Lakewood.

ROSA SWINGING: Garabez Rosa has four multi-hit games in his last eight. He has 14 total hits in the last eight games. Prior to the eight game stretch to end July and begin August, Rosa recorded just nine hits in his first 18 games of July (9-66, .136).

LAST STARTER TO WIN: No Shorebirds starter has won a start since Kenny Moreland defeated Hickory on July 21 (12 games ago).

BUMBRY ON THE ROAD: Steve Bumbry is batting .331 on the road and just .225 at home this season. He takes an eight-game road hitting streak into game one against Hickory.

ONE SHY OF LAST YEAR: In 2009, the ‘Birds were last in the league with 49 total home runs. This season, they have 48 (12th in SAL) with still 33 games left.

33 TO GO: The Shorebirds have 16 games left on the road and 17 at home.
