Anthony Briggs Not Eligible For Parole
SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. -- Prosecutors said a young child who was able to give a detailed account of sexual assaults help lead to the conviction and life sentence for her abuser.
A jury found Anthony Briggs, 26, of Chesnee guilty of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and lewd act on a minor.
Circuit Judge Derham Cole issued the life sentence -- the maximum penalty allowed under state law for the criminal sexual conduct conviction. He also received a concurrent 15-year prison sentence for the lewd act conviction.
Court records showed Briggs’ prior criminal record dated back to 2001 and included convictions for driving under the influence, disturbing schools, grand larceny, criminal domestic violence, fraudulent checks and simple assault and battery.
