Victim Detains Robber For Police

State Troopers got a little help in arresting a robbery suspect yesterday afternoon when a store clerk detained the bandit and a Wilmington Police Officer stepped in.

On Tuesday, April 20th, at approximately 12:13 p.m., a robbery occurred at the Pantry 1 Food Mart, 2901 Concord Pike in Wilmington. During this incident, Shannon Harrison entered the above business and approached the employee at the service counter. The suspected allegedly displayed what appeared to be a black colored handgun at the victim and demanded cash.

The clerk refused to comply and Harrison walked out of the store. The police were notified and the clerk went out after the suspect. The clerk then took Harrison to the ground and held him there until an off-duty Wilmington Police Officer, who was simply driving on Concord Pike, saw the struggle and intervened. He then detained Harrison while Troopers were responding.

DSP Officers arrived and took custody of the robbery suspect. He was found to have been in possession of an air-soft gun which was a replica handgun. Harrison was transported back to Troop 1 where he was formally charged with Attempted Robbery 1st (felony.

Shannon Harrison was committed to the Department of Corrections in lieu of a $20,000.00 secured bond.
