Groups of youths run amok near Times Square; police close several streets
NEW YORK - Several dozen people were arrested in midtown Manhattan early Monday after a night of mayhem that included three shootings.
The crimes occurred around a mile-long stretch of midtown, from Herald Square to Times Square to near Rockefeller Center, police said. The charges included disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and weapon possession.
Large groups of youths ran amok, witnesses said. Fights reportedly broke out and witnesses described hearing shots, local media reported.
