Should Bob Ehrlich Sign the “No Taxes” Pledge?

In 2002, Bob Ehrlich ran for governor against an incredibly weak Democrat candidate and won. In 2006 he lost to a much tougher opponent. In 2010, Ehrlich is hoping that lightning will strike a second time. For it to happen, he will need the ACTIVE support of grassroots conservatives through the Once Free State.

In the past, Ehrlich has declined to sign a “No New Taxes” pledge. With fiscal issues at the fore, and groups like the Tea Party mobilizing thousands of voters across Maryland, now is the time for Tea Party activists and groups such as AFP and the Club for Growth to DEMAND Ehrlich’s pledge BEFORE they will commit to supporting his nascent candidacy.

What would be wrong with a cut tax pledge?
A no new tax has been going on since Ronald Reagan.
It is old, if the government cant trim its budget during a recession , how can a average american household.
He and others will do as they have always done if reelected , for get the people who put him there and go out for special interest and his own pocketbook.
Say it aint so.

what about fees and other charges? they always seem to find a way to take our money by using euphemisms.
Just another politician!

Great point! I noted that I thought the tax pledges had become gimmicky, but I wish I had thought of a "tax cut pledge" when I was writing these posts.

I would love to see a pledge stating NO Tax, NO Fee, NO surge Charge or any other increase to the Consumer until Government spending is stabilized from Politians over spending Tax Dollars. These are all taxes since they are not a one time charge.

Pepsi next to go broke as far as i am concerned, 89cents tax on a $2.00 drink.
I bought a six pack of beer the other day it cost $5.99 plus tax , getting high. Then i bought a pack of chewing tobacco , it was $5.86 plus tax.
I bought a six pack of beer back in 1979 for 99cents and a pack of tobacco for 25 cents.
What happened?
I know these are bad habit , or are they just some enjoyment.
Greed and tax i guess.
But i can quit all but the taxes, i wont pay that much again for any of it.

Absolutely, if he can't sign a pledge of no new revenue for the state under any circumstances, we might as well have a liberal dem in office.

First - a repeal the "Flush-Tax" statement....then a no new tax/fee statement....or we don't get anything better than we had then....

I agree, repeal the stupid, worthless flush tax. It's just a waste of money and does no good for anything.
