While this isn’t exactly the social / gossip column, I’ve had quite a few people point out that Wicomico County Executive Rick Pollitt attended the recent UMES Gala and a question arose as to who bought the somewhat expensive ticket.
I’ve never backed off from Pollitt if I thought he was wrong, but the taxpayers of Wicomico County DID NOT foot the bill for Rick to “trip the light fantastic”. Either Pollitt’s campaign chairman, Connie Strott, or Pollitt’s campaign paid for Rick’s attendance at the posh soiree. I haven’t been able to determine which.
However, it doesn’t really matter. To the best of my knowledge, this would be a legitimate campaign expenditure (all of those potential donors don’t you know). If Mrs. Strott purchased the ticket, that should be fine too; whether it’s declared as an in-kind contribution or not.

Any number of local politicians were there. Why single out Rick? He has never, to my knowledge, done anything dishonest. We should try to stick with policy and performance issues.

Which other "local politicians were there."
Inquiring minds want to know!
PS: and just how long have you known Rick?
As long as he brought the ticket like everyone else and wasn't given political favors, I don't see an issue. He did buy the ticket, right?
Wanna bet that the Greater Salisbury Committee paid for the ticket. These days it's name should be the Committee to Reelect Rick Pollitt ("CREEP").
Not competently doing your job to a satisfactory level and NOT following policies {like holding public hearing in the middle of the day when CITIZENS cant attend and be heard}.....thats as dishonest as it gets!
rick also know's one of the main landfill thief is now head man on the dump! right rick.?
Did Ricky do the charleston? He is good about dancing around topics.
Oh sure, he's not dishonest
3:54 PM, what rock have you been hiding under? Does he listen, do or consider what the citizens of this county want? I don't think so, he has his own agenda and that's the way he operates and Fruitland sure doesn't want him back either, so you tell us, just what is it that he has (honestly)done that's so great.

I'm not really singling Rick out. Quite a few people asked me about his being there and who paid for his ticket. I actually thought that I was doing Rick a favor by making it clear that he did not use taxpayer money.

Frank Kratovil was there. So was some or all of the Princess Anne Town Commission (at taxpayer expense). Don't know about others.

GSC DID NOT pay for Rick's ticket. I told you who cut the check. I just don't know if it was paid for with personal funds or campaign funds (and that really doesn't matter).

Look, I've been a critic a Rick's on many things. HOWEVER, he has NOTHING to do with scheduling public hearings. Gail Bartkovich is ultimately responsible for that one. Yet, Sheree Sample-Hughes seemed to take great pleasure in taking at least partial credit for that one when I complained to Gail at the council meeting.

You should really be ashamed. At best, Rick has done a fair to middling job. At worse, he's simply a hack politician looking for a way to con the public (Rick would say "persuade") into repealing the revenue cap. He may not listen to your concerns. Shame on him. THAT DOES NOT MAKE HIM DISHONEST.
Show me evidence of one thing that he's done which is illegal.
Frank Kratovil,Jim Mathias,Page Elmore,Davis Rurak,Stevie Prettyman, Rudy Cane,Danny Long and Rick Pollitt all attended the Gala. Also, Connie Strott and her husband were there.
Where were Cannon and Holloway ?? I guess they just do not find U.M.E.S. that important. Wonder Why ?
