Hooray! Way to clean up our city. You're on a roll; now keep it up, PLEASE.

I spoke with former Chief Webster about the whoring in this area and the SP patroled it for a short while. But as soon as they quit checking, business picked up again. Thank goodness something has been finally done about this. Thanks Chief Barkley and Mr. Ruark.

I know of an elderly couple that lives in one of the rooms. They aren't involved in any of the mess that goes on there. I hope they find another place to live soon.

Thank you to our mayor, I hope it is the first step in cleaning up that area of Rt13.

It's about time! Now where will the Salisbury "ladies of the night" go for business? Guess its a tough economy for everyone!

Darn!!! Another one of my jobs is gone. First the Canton Inn and now Thrift Travel. What's a girl gotta do to earn a living????? LOL

Anonymous said...

thats bs that government can jump in and take the place away. While I agree that there was an issue. I do not think government should be able to do that to a private business.

Will the city have an opportunity to own this building, like the one Neighborhood Services occupies (a drug bust forfeiture and gift to the city from the DOJ through the Weed & Seed program)?
I hope not, unlike the success story of the NSCC building, this one is a tax-sucking loser, not unlike The Bricks.
Of course, the city could get into the motel business, or turn it into a....a.... never mind with that idea.

It should be sold to the highest bidder by the Feds, and a least part of the money channeled into local law enforcement augmentation, whether in dollars, services or training.

Late night hustle goin down in the city.
A one way street on the wrong side of town.
Young and foolish man, dont you know.
All we could see were.

ladies in the night
Walkin a straight line
ladies in the night
Workin overtime
ladies in the night
Doing the husle
ladies in the night
Flexing their muscles
ladies in the night
Big City, Big City girls

We worked out a deal with some chicks on the corner.
Back at the room it was never to be.
No one had money and the girls got so uptight.

Baby I know, just what I see.
Baby I know, its not what I need.
Big City girls, Big City girls.

The next thing you know things get rough babe.
They carved out a warning with a switch blade knife.
The message was clear, if you wanta play you gotta pay.

ladies in the night...

Whats wrong with free enterprise. Now u have gone an done away with a business...JUST KIDDING..we needed that trash moved a long time ago.

Thats great news and a long time coming. Dont stop there. Go across the street and close the Chesapeake Inn which is the sister motel. The prostitutes alternate back and forth between the two and make big money. They will move on to another section of the city.My guess is the transit bus stop or a section 8 apartment complex.

Damn...now my ex-husband will have to find a new place to go to, to cheat on his new girlfriend! Rhonda, I hope that you are reading this...it's now going to cost you more money to break up another relationship!

I'm about 1 paper trail link away from being able to OUT your "source" who is leaking information to you about ongoing these investigations.

you two have become very careless...

see you in the paper! ;)

doug wilkerson said...

How did you sleep last night fat man, I slept like a baby.

Anonymous said...

Will the former owners be leaving the U.S., courtesy of the Feds, too?

Anonymous said...

Taylor, a paper trail link is not the only thing you're one short of.

Anonymous said...

Now they just need to rename it and start asking for grants to restore it, like they're doing with the Bricks. This would be an ideal place for the people to stay while they're waiting for their new apartment at the bricks...er I mean The Richardson Apartments.
Might I suggest Tilghman Manor?

Sheriff Lewis is the real person to thank. He his making everyone step up to the plate. Even if he didn't have a direct hand in it, he is leading by example.

Anonymous said...

It clearly says that the feds shut it down. Why give SPD and Ruark any credit for this. It seems they failed for years to close it down and the feds had to actually step in and do the dirty work.

Joe, 2:19 is such an idiot. Please don't lower yourself to him. He is soooooooo jealous of you and your success that he can't do his own thing for worrying about what you are doing. What a joke he is!

Anonymous said...

Now can they find out how the old business school behind Thrift was converted to a rooming house and get that thing in order or shut it down. There are some very nice people trying to live there, but the conditions in the area and the building are dreadful from what I hear.

Anonymous said...

Where will our WCBOE folks stay now???lol

Anonymous said...

2:41 and 2:44. Maybe it's because they have laws on the federal side that allow the forfeiture and the state side does not.

Anonymous said...

Dont the Fed move in on places like this with an invitation from the locals? So Ruark and SPD probably did havesomething to do with it?

Danger Dan said...

Does JT masturbate to pictures of you Joe? I think so....

LMAO

Actually, the person who needs to be thanked for this is Davis Ruark. He has been working for a couple of years to rid the area of this nuisance property, as well as at least one other commercial and one other residential. He convened the grand jury to get the indictments on these property owners and thankfully the GJ got the message.

Thanks, Mr. Ruark!!!

The closure of this place is nothing but a feel good gesture. It's not going to stop anything.

The mongers will still pick up the drug/alcohol streetwalkers and recieve their services in parks, parking lots, etc.
Contrary to what Nut Haus stated above, they are not making big money. These aren't high priced call girls we're talking about-it's STD infected, addicts in this case.

Anonymous said...

I for one am glad to see any gesture to clean up Salisbury; and thank anyone who had anything to do with it!

Anonymous said...

why are they being closed down?

don't get all excited everyone. the patel who owns it will sell it to the next patel and it will re-open just like it did back when the bozmans sold it to the patels. this motel used to be nice, but i don't know anymore.

Anonymous said...

can someone send me any pictures of the interior of the rooms? i am doing a thing for one of my classes, and it would be great to see what the inside looks like, for referance to show what some people have to deal with on a daily basis. my email is donlothario16@yahoo.com

Anonymous said...

This gesture isn't going to clean up Salisbury. Now alot of the prostitutes will be doing their deeds in public places.

Personally I wish they would have done more sting operations like they did awhile back, concentrating on those that solicit the prostitutes. The only thing that will stop this is if they have no customers. Word would get out pretty quickly on their online guides to stay the hell away from the area.

Nut Haus said...

Johnathan you are pathetic. You come across like your a private eye for the city against Joes sources. The sources are everywhere Johnny boy and you cant stop them. If I gave you my name you still would not stop me or cause me any trouble. If your site was worth a s!!t you would have sources too. You dont because you have no credibility and you have a twisted mind. Get a life and find a job. SBYNEWS rocks.

Mr. Taylor
The case was actually secured with the help of a city fireman. Information was provided to the proper authorities and obvious activities lead to bigger fish. Please take your paper trail and relax there on Foxfield Circle. You are no threat to anyone but yourself. Large in stature and small in importance.

Anonymous said...

5:16 Parking lot? You mean the one across the street from the Civic Center? ha ha ha

Anonymous said...

The owners and everyone else knows what goes on in these local crack/ho motels. When we make the owners responsible for their patrons, this is what happens, lose your business. There are quite a few local hotels that need to be made accountable. I take the bypass from the mall to Fruitland now so I don't have to ride through Salisbury and look at this dirty mess.

Anonymous said...

The only paper link JT has can be found on a roll of toilet paper!

Anonymous said...

2:35 LMAO!!

Thank you to EVERYONE involved in closing this eyesore and crime haven! And yes, hope the Feds give the Patels a one way ticket back to where they came from! And I hope they do go across the street and tear the other cheap hotel down, then continue north and tear down that eyesore across from Tasty Freeze, then travel further north to Delmar and demolish more eyesores that breed the crime! Looks like things are finally getting done in Salisbury thanks to the new regime and teamwork from local law enforcement! Way to go!!!

Anonymous said...

we went by there tonite and there were cars there and lights on in the office and their Thrift light is on. Are they shut down or not?

Nothing happens quickly with the Feds. It's in the process.

From Channel 47

On Tuesday the U.S. Attorney's Office in Baltimore filed a complaint of forfeiture, where the office would seize the property.

Investigators say it's because the motel allowed an foreigner to stay there and be employed illegally. They say the foreigner was arranging for prostitution to be held at the Thrift Travel Inn.

The motel has 35 days to file a claim in response. Otherwise, the court will file a default judgement in about 60 days, and the inn would be shut down.

The owner could not be reached for comment.
