Door shuts as man walks out, BIOTCH!
LMAO!!
You are such a BOOB!
I thought it was the unemployment line.
Window blinds open as hubby is pulling away......BOOBS
I cannot believe the mentality of people. You didn't already have a snow shovel? OMG!
I don't have a shovel and when I drove by and saw the chaos in the parking lot I decided I will survive this storm without a shovel! At least I have somewhat of a decent reason for not having one. This is only the second winter in my house and I did not need one last year. I have survived thus far.
As my beloved and I enjoyed lunch Sunday on Eastern Shore Drive, we watched as customer after customer tried to do business with ACE hardware in the Super Fresh parking lot. I would guess that 50 cars pulled in, only to leave empty handed, as the store was closed. Now I know that the roads were bad, but that store could have helped many many people that day with their snow issues. Surely 2 of the normal 10 people on their staff could have gotten there. Bad call in my opinion. I think that Rommel does a great job over all, and that is why I was so surprised that they were closed.
A lot of college students were there.
Mom didn't pack a shovel and the landlord said TUFF, do it yourself.
My daughter and her husband went looking for one last Thursday night. Pretty smart for 2 college educated people! My sister says maybe they should have registered for one for their wedding!
Yea, A friend of mine went to Ace this afternoon to get hardware for a projector mount we were working on and the cashier told him that they were supposed to have a shipment of 12,000 snow shovels at 2 this afternoon.
My wife would of had everything when she got home and thought it took her to long to do it.(outside), you gotta ride them to the buzzer.
6:36-a pays to be a sly fox.....much more than an old dog.
Joe:
I just left ACE at 6:00 p.m. and they had plenty of shovels. The price is $29.95. I'm glad you posted this because I went to Lowes, HD, Central Tractor, Sears, and had was just about to given-up.
My handle broke on my old shovel yesterday.
Thanks!
I went to Southern States on Mill Street and got a flat nosed shovel but what a hidden treasure of a store.
What wrong with this picture ? The wife does everything the husband asks. The least he can do is shovel the snow !!
When I got to ace to pick up a shovel this aftrenoon, the line was down in front of the matteress store. I only had to wait in line for about ten or fifteen minutes before I had a shovel in my hand and was headed out. They did a great job with the mob. And it was an excelent people watching opportunity.
I heard the cops were up to Ace at about 6PM due to a dispute over shovels. Apparently someone has been buying them up and selling for double in parking lots.
7:08-I love it!
Hey Joe, glad you could use the pic. I didn't know how to send it to your email from my phone (I'm not tech savey like these young-uns!)
I couldn't believe how many people were there. At one point, lined up to Super Fresh down the sidewalk.
I'm not sure about the 12,000 shovels comment - they were limiting people to two shovels a piece.
Have a video clip from inside too if you're interested. Lines down the store aisles and all three lines open.
$29.95?? wow! bought a shovel from ace last week - after standing in a similar line - and the price was only $14.99!! I guess that's supply and demand for ya!
A pic is worth a thousand words - I had heard but figured it was bull.
$29.95 for a snow shovel=rude
Dont get me wrong I am all for free market etc but thats just rude.
30 dollars for a snow shovel child pleez
Ace hardware is own by the rommels. they are not the little guy by any means
No it was called price gouging. We couldn't believe what they were charging. But they knew people needed them. I guess it was smart on their part since they knew no one else in Salisbury had any snow shovels. We were in the crowd trying to get one for us and our mother in law since we have been breaking our backs with small shovels. The one girl told us they got a shipment of 1300 shovels. 2 types cost 30 and the other 1 was 20. They brought out a whole pallet of the 20 ones and right before that told us they only had the 30 dollar ones. When asked about those as they were sending them to the back, they said they had been sold already. Not sure how since they had just brought them out. Figured they wanted to sell the expensive ones first. Mob was controlled to an art though, they did a great job with that.
For all of you uneducated people responding to shovel prices - as of 4:30, customers had their choice of four different shovels ranging from 16.99 - 29.99 (the 29.99 shovel was an ergonomically-correct one while the others were:
Plastic with wood handle, metal with wood handle, or plastic shovel and handle with metal strip along the shoveling edge).
Rude? Maybe but I didn't see anyone walking away, nor any other stores in town ordering them and selling them.
I have to agree that Ace isn't the little guy here. It may be a physically smaller store than Lowe's or Home Depot, but it is owned by the Rommels, who own businesses all over Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. After working for these folks for a few years I think I'd rather give my money to some of the "big guys".
