Rumor About Delmar Food Lion Not True

Folks, I continue to get e-mail after e-mail telling me the roof caved in at the Food Lion in Delmar. It is absolutely untrue.

I contacted the Manager there hours ago and he confirmed there was absolutely no problem with their roof.

So STOP spreading this around.

Go into the food side of Cheers in downtown Delamr, the drop ceiling was bowing abot 6 or 7 inches yesterday with water dripping down from it. Sketchy.

Hi Joe, Not sure whats going on but I just went thereand a female employee met me at the door and said, "Sorry, we're not open". thats all they say. The lady at Family Dollar told us that they closed the Food Lion because of the roof. Maybe someone is just being cautious. Sounds like the have their customers interest in mind.

My wife just called and said the Food Lion in Delmar was closed.

They are expecting to open their doors at 3;00 PM. It is standard for Food Lion to not open their doors after such a large storm by concern of roof issues. However, Food Lion informs me that they have absolutely no structural issue in Delmar and they do plan on opening the store this afternoon.

...hmmm !!!???
I'll pass

Joe, I hope they are telling you the truth. Realizing that FL is out of the south where there aren't many huge storms I have a problem understanding they would take so much planned precaution after a large snow. This day and time all stores keep their doors open as much as possible to rake in all the business they can.

If this is the case, then why was the store open for 2 days after the storm passed? There doesn't seem to be much logic behind this.

right no need to close, we are just going to close.

Yes, it is Food Lion procedure-in the commercial property business and I was notified by FL yesterday to have the roof checked out. Seems there has been some roof issues in VA.

it is not standard of precaution to close after a storm, other food lion stores were open. it does not matter where the parent company is located, the building is built to code of the state that it is being built in. If the closing was standard, then why weren't the other store in the strip mall closed and the other food lions closed, same building, same roof. there is more to the story...rumored to be closing from corporate

I saw the hole.... so you are wrong again. And imagine that... the manager would lie so that the story doesn't leak. Heard it here first!

Just got back from Giant Food. Hardly any stocking done and some shelves are empty. I was told their delivery truck didn't make it in yesterday & didn't think a truck would make it in today.

Lots of bread and milk though.

If this is a Food Lion SOP, why were the other stores open?

You can see the hole from the outside window.

As I have stated from the very beginning, I spoke with the Manager and I directly asked his if any part of the roof came in and he said that is a flat out lie.

He did say some pannels in "front of the stoor" came down but nothing inside the store.

After receiving so many e-mail messages again I called him back and said, LOOK, something is going on, WHAT IS IT. He again denied any damage to the roof and stated he expected the store to reopen at 3 pm.

Now, he answered the phone for me the two times I called. I suggest you call there youself from this point forward and speak to STEVE directly.

Enough already. Go to Walmart and get whatever you need they have enough of everything to get you through til this sunny weekend.

If tiles fell down-it would only make sense that they would close the store to check out the roof and ceiling just as a pre-caution. People, nothing more, nothing less-I am amazed at the panic that ensues when something abnormal happens-it is FL policy and they did notify ALL of their Northern stores to check out the roofs and to handle snow removal on them.

who cars! but bottom line is that delmar is still operating like it's 1998!

Some of you people are just ridiculous. You always have to have something to bash someone or some business about.
Don't you have better things to do with your life? Apparently not!
Joe has repeated, the story is NOT true, so give it a rest and go back to your cave, please!

You're just upset because you can't ride the roads and spend your money buying items you really didn't need before the storm anyway.
Joe would tell if the story was true. Listen to Joe and shut up!

we saw on facebook somebody posted that a seaford walmart had problems with its roof..true or false??

joealbero said...

anonymous 4:49, let me ask you a question. DO YOU HAVE A PHONE? Because I personally don't give a crap. Do YOU live in the Seaford area? If so, you're not capable of calling them to see if it's true?

If the Delmar Food Lion is BS, what makes you think a news WalMart store roof caved in?

I applaud the Food Lion in Delmar. The manager there is the best you could ask for and I'm sure he's looking out for the safety of everyone. I am not a FL fan by any means, but the Delmar store is my exeption.

Anyone know whats going on with all the helicopters flying around Laurel/Delmar area?

Anonymous said...

It was the WBOC news helicopter. Tonight's highlighted town was Laurel. They were also doing a story on a collapsed roof at Delmarva Poultry in Laurel.

There was not ONE EGG in the Salisbury Walmart earlier today, where we went after being turned away from the Delmar Food Lion...our first choice. Especially since we've been boycotting both the Walmart and the Sam's, after they treated Joe so badly at Christmas.

Just what is the big deal. Bread eggs milk what do people make french toast when it snows. This is a good time to eat all the stuff i your pantry you wouldnt normally. Spring culinary cleaning.

I don’t know if the roof caved in or not but they would not let me in the store because all the ceiling tiles were bowed and starting to falling out. The Guy personally told me that they where afraid the roof was going to collapse and they were going to have someone look at it. Safety precaution I suppose. I don’t know why he wouldn’t at least admit that much of it. I hate half truths. Makes you wonder what else they are lying about? I guess I will stop shopping there.

Since everyone goes out for bread, eggs, milk, and toilet paper when a snow is threatened; is it safe to assume that bread, eggs, and milk give you the "runs"?

Just a thought.

6:33 Must be because in the North Salisbury Walmart there was almost no syrup either. I don't get it!
