No, the people did not expect Ricky to hog wild and expand the bureaucracy as we headed into a recession.

Rick may be a likable guy, Joe, and I don't expect you will attack him. But don't turn your show into a politician's platform.

Even Phil Tilghman's joke of a show will ask a real question every now and again.

How about 7 days a week. We cant get enough of Joe. Best entertainment ever and free. Keep up the good work.

I'd watch you every night of the week! Your right, WBOC and WMDT are just a min or two longer that your broadcast. WBOC prefers to show news from DE. Both shows also show things we've already seen on the Nat'l news or already on sbynews.com.

I can't wait to see what you have from the BT press conference!

Yes, if you and your family can. On the other issues, yes I'll watch. Just be safe. Thank you. map

Looking forward to seeing all of the proof you have on those people. Funny how your still around yet they have been left behind. I guess we have Barrie to thank for you having a blog.

I appreciate all the information that you currently provide for us...it is more informative and based on true facts..I know it will require more time but your time and information is greatly appreciated...as well as your hard work and dedication. I would love to see you have a daily news show....15 minutes or even 10...alot of information can be given in that time frame..I look forward to seeing you more often....Have a great day Joe....

map, not to worry. Remember now, it was a Press Conference. Barrie Tilghman put herself in front of several cameras and read a private e-mail to the WORLD. Kind of reminds me of that Dumb and Dumber movie. Oh, wait until you see this gem!!!!!

If you go to five nights a week plus your Saturday show, your numbers on your site meter will go crazy. Just earlier today they did. Good luck! I'll be sure to watch!

Joe , I myself would enjoy watching every night . However I enjoy your site and how it is updated all day long . If it takes away from that then I would say no , 3 days a week is fine . I believe you keep us informed more than any other MSM out there .

I would love a daily broadcast, but slim and trim version about the length of this broadcast, with perhaps a longer one or twice a week. However, it's a lot to ask of you Joe so don't over do.

Just my opinion.

I am wondering why you are beating a dead horse. Tilghman is out of office, Rapp is no longer at the zoo. All of that is OLD news. I guess I am just wondering why you always bring these people up. They no longer have anything to do with this city

joealbero said...

anonymous 8:08, funny how you come here and say that now that "I" have a tool to spread the truth.

It's all about credibility and liars.

They had their fun controlling the media back in the day, now I'll have mine. Must be the Italian in me.

I understand that you what to get the truth out about what happened in the past. But as you stated in the "broadcast", you had these video clips..even said you showed them to Ruark. Why didn't you produce them then for all to see and to clear yourself?

joealbero said...

The videos did clear me back then.

Aside from that, I didn't even have a Blog back then, let alone an avenue to expose the other side.

And certainly not like you're going to see this weekend!

No 10 second sound bites. It will be 1/2 hour of Joe Albero telling the other side AFTER Barrie Tilghman says here. Fair is fair.

I agree with TDP completely. We wouldn't want you to burn out, Joe. It's alot to manage.

I'd like to suggest holding it to 3 days a week for right now. Let the interest build for a while before overwhelming your market. If viewer levels are maintained and grow, then expand. You don't want to do so much that the site becomes too busy and loses the punch that it has.

Great work, Joe! I think 5 days would be sweet. Ten to fifteen minutes is perfect. Also 5 days would allow you to concentrate on one topic per day if deemed important enough. Keep kicking the Fat Man's green a$$ and slapping around JR. They both want to be you sooooooo bad.

Anonymous said...

Hey Joe-

Hate to get off topic, but when is the next cigar club??

Anonymous said...

whats the point of wasting airtime discussing and showing tapes of these acts from Rapp and Tilghman?..neither one of them is involved with the city anymore...especially things from 2004 or earlier...once again...this isnt news..this is Life and Times of Joe...

joe holland said...

Joe I most definately agree with mardela tdp and tidewaterbound 200% I had even mentioned a little while back about the sound level presence needed to be just a bit louder and tonjghts show was perfectly loud and clear, thanks for all your hard work and truthful information.

I would enjoy 5 days a week. Maybe you can expand to weather and sports too. (just kidding) Also agree with previous post that would like to see the classifieds used. I would be willing to pay a reasonable amount for classified advertising.

Joe,
Five nights a week would be great, but only if your boss lets you (I'm talking about the boss lady in your house)lol. Your blog is very time consuming and has taken you away from family time. We don't want to interfere or impose on your personal life any more than we already do. We will continue to read and support your blog no matter what. We are grateful for you and what you do. We are also grateful to your family as we know this is a very time consuming process. If you do consider five nights a week, you may want to consider a backup anchor. That way you are able to do this five nights a week. That way you can still get the news out for the day. Plus if a huge news story is breaking, it may require you to be there as it is happening (i.e. Sarah Foxwell). You can always call in and be part of the broadcast. Just some food for thought. Thanks again, Beth

Although I do not always agree with your point of view, I have to admit that I too have become an avid reader, and also have to admit that I have become much more informed about our community. You do indeed provide a valuable service to us all, and I just can't believe that you have any time to sleep or get much else done as I can only imagine how time consuming running this site must be. You certainly do an amazing job, and I appreciate your efforts. Now, as many others have shared, be sure to not burn the proverbial candle at both ends - we have lost some pretty important and respected folks this year (Dr. Jose Alvearado and many others) and you are certainly too important to your family.

God Bless

Hi Joe.

It's been a few weeks since I provided feedback. Thought it fair to give an update since you pretty much had a broadcast asking for feedback.

The new lighting is much better than when you went dark. Thanks!

That monitor on the bottom is still casting strange light up on you. It's been minimized by the improved ambient light. If things go well for you and it justifies the money, maybe go with a teleprompter? Still, it's much better than it used to be so don't take this as nitpicking.

Wardrobe - I still like the jacket and tie. Sportcoat and no tie would probably be fine. There's something about a jacket that just appears more serious and polished compared to 2 button open collar. If you don't want to feel too stuffy, ditch the pants and just wear boxers. Nobody will know!

Scripting - I know that you don't want to be just like the "other guys." But scripts help to ensure you say all the important stuff. And your script might very well end up better than the other guys, anyway. You ramble a bit here, IMHO. At least have some bullet points on a card next to the camera. Make it short and sweet. Say what you have to say and get out. Forget about the perceived value of time - it only adds value if you continue to use it to the maximum extent possible. You don't need any filler to get the viewer into Wheel of Fortune or whatever it is that comes after the news.

Frequency - I'd like for you to stick to three days for now. You said it's a lot of extra work, so why not reinvest a part of that extra time commitment of 5 days into improving your show? You've come a long way in little time. Don't burn yourself out by trying to do too much. As you get better, you'll be more efficient and 5 days will become less of a burden to you.

Guests - In a 10 minute show with a few issues to discuss, they would probably not be appropriate, per se. I wouldn't mind seeing a clip from a press conference that day, if you can do it. I do like hearing that you've landed Pollitt for your long Saturday show, though. Congrats!

Formula - I guess this kind of relates to the script thing. But if you had some kind of formula, it might help minimize your prep time. Maybe you could do "Top 5 stories of the day?" That gives you about 2 mins to discuss a topic, which is probably about right. Perhaps you can brainstorm some Features and see what people like, get an idea of how long they take, and then build your show format from there?

You keep getting better each show. Don't think that the world hasn't noticed.

My questions for Pollitt. I have a lot of them!

If it's not "our" money as taxpayers that we are overpaying up to 7x for the old mall land, who's money is it?

Why hasn't eminent domain been discussed as a way of securing this land, if it is really essential for the public good?

Since when is it justified to enrich a select few with public funds when the state of Maryland in general is struggling to meet it's financial obligations? Could this money not be better for the state as a whole if it is applied to the general fund? And if not, does this mean that you have lost faith in the state bureaucracy to make good decisions?

If it were YOUR money, and you had to write a check and then watch the money leave your bank account, would you still pay this kind of money for the land? What would you be giving up in order to afford this land?

How much is it going to cost the county to redevelop this land if it is purchased? Where will this money come from? How much additional annual spending will we be committing ourselves to?

Our current budget is unsustainable. How is it that the county and the board of education can't find the political will to make substantial cuts in staffing and funding? Is our government as efficient as it could be? Wouldn't cutting spending be just as effective as removing the revenue cap when it comes to balancing revenues and expenditures?

I agree with the 10-15 minutes 5 nights a week. Don't burn yourself out or your family.

My question for Mr Pollitt is: If you are so intent on spending that kind of money, buy the whole darn parcel. If only the small parcel is up for consideration the answer is "NO". Use the parking lots at the high school. I was not involved with the ins and outs or politics at the time the negociations (sp) with the owners. Are they (owners) paying taxes on the property? I know we just lost the property on RT 50 to non profit. I would hate to loose a another large portion off the tax rolls so soon?

I don't always agree with you and feel sometimes that you just want to rant and rave from your soapbox. That said, I check your blog 4 to 5 times a day and always check out the 6 o'clock report. I can not get wrde, so i depend on your site. 3 or 5 days a week is fine with me. Maybe a guest host sometimes.
