Annapolis, Maryland (February 26, 2010) – Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr. issued the following statement on the passage of SB 106 – Job Creation and Recovery Tax Credit.
“From the beginning of the session, the Senate’s top priorities have been to manage the state’s finances responsibly and to create and protect jobs. The Job Creation and Recovery Tax Credit represents a healthy partnership between government and the business community to create jobs and expedite our State’s economic recovery. I want to thank my colleagues in the Maryland Senate for acting quickly and in a bi-partisan fashion on this important piece of legislation.”

I read this Senate Bill.
A tax credit won't do anything to promote jobs here in Maryland.
If you read the Senate Bill it says that the maximum amount State income tax credit is $250,000 for a Maryland firm.
This won't do squat. If I were the Senate President why not sponsor a Maryland Tax holiday for employers by exempting sales tax on all purchased raw goods. Try waiving the mandatory required workmans compensation.
This will contribute nothing to luring more Maryland employers to our area.
