POLICE INVESTIGATE SALISBURY HOMICIDE

(Salisbury, MD) – Maryland State Police and the Wicomico Bureau of Investigation are continuing their investigation into the murder of a Salisbury man that occurred last night when suspects entered his home and shot him.

The victim is identified as Gregory J. Wright, 22, of the 900-block of East Booth Street, Salisbury, Md. Wright lived at that address with his girlfriend, her mother, and two children related to his girlfriend’s mother.

The two suspects are described only as African American males, both of whom were said to be wearing dark clothing, gloves, and skull caps. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun. The second suspect did not display a weapon.

Just before 10:00 p.m. yesterday, Maryland State Police at the Salisbury Barracks received a 911 call from the victim’s girlfriend, who reported a shooting had just occurred at her residence. Troopers responded and found the victim deceased in the living room of the home.

Investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and the Wicomico Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene, along with a K-9 team and State Police crime scene technicians. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was sitting in the living room of the row house type apartment, with the four females who live there, when the two suspects entered through the front door.

Investigative information developed at this time reveals the suspect with the handgun fired multiple times at the victim as he sat in a chair. The victim was struck in the upper torso. Both suspects then walked out of the residence, taking the handgun with them. None of the four women in the room were injured.

State Police crime scene technicians continue to process the scene for evidence. Investigators are continuing to contact residents in the area to develop information about the suspects responsible for the murder.

Anyone who may have been in the area of Booth Street and Kenosha Avenue between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. last night is urged to contact police. A reward is being offered by Wicomico County Crime Solvers for information leading to the arrest of one or both of the suspects. Information may be left confidentially by calling 410-548-1776. Maryland State Police at the Salisbury Barracks can be reached at 410-749-3101.

you know whats bad, the people doing these crimes are not many. our laws and court system, afraid of offending somebody, has let this stuff fester to the point its going to be hard to get the geny back in the bottle. how long are people going to sit back and watch this happen to our friends and neighbors?

Why do we let thugs and gangsta's walk the streets?
When are we going to stop them?

Easier said than done. You can't just arrest someone because they look like a thug. Around here, it's to the point where people won't assist the police because that would be "snitching." Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it has anything to do with witnesses being afraid. I think it's because they listen to too much rap music and 50 cent is their idol, and he says "stop snitching." I wish some of these thugs would land themselves in CA streets and they would learn quick they aren't real thugs.

the average person fears of the criminal outweighs their faith in the police or justice system. Witnesses are not as protected as the rights of the criminals. Why should anyone risk their life to help the police then the next day see the same "thug" back on the street with a slap on the wrist from the justice system?

sounds very well organized and not a thug killing at all. Both were dressed alike with one gun, so it will be very hard for any witness to give a positive ID in a line up. Just like when John Gotti took out a famed mobster on the streets of New York, 5 people all dressed alike and no one could get a positive ID. They did not have any extra killings just the one targeted victim, very clean. I think that this reeks of an organized gang hit. I can assure you the survivors know nothing they saw nothing just like Sgt. Schultz.

The Police would love to take these thugs down but the minute they arrest one and get into a fight with him, put him into the hospital and take him to jail, the jail won't take him because he has an injury and the department begins an internal investigation, the Officer gets suspended and then fired and the thug looks like a victim and doesn't get prosecuted.
The public and the departments need to stand behind the Officers and support them. UNTIL then, these thugs will continue to roam the streets and rule the night.
There has to be uncommon and unconventional ways to take these streets back. The department/public/courts want every arrest to be black and white and no gray areas. They don't take it serious unless they themselves are the victims (which is just a matter of time).

Enjoy your life on the Eastern Shore...

I bet that that the suspects have been arrested many times before, only to go through the joke that is Wicomico County District Court. I wish a reporter would spend a week watching room 1, then all would know why this county is so bad.

It is called courage. Plain and simple you can be part of the problem or you can take a stand. The problem in this country is so many are willing to complain and get up on a soap box and do nothing.

The entire system is in a state of liberalism. The United States of America has become soft. To those who proudly serve in milatary and law enforcement I salute you. To those who educate our children and those that work to improve troubled areas God bless you and watch over you. These people keeps the wolves at bay. We can no longer sit back and let others do what we should be doing as Americans.

To blame the Justice System and the econmy is a cop out. If you know or see what is going on report it. To the people that live in the battle zone. Take courage and tell someone. You know who is living a criminal life and who lives as a good American. The law has to be colored blind. The police have to give service to the rich and the poor. America needs to heal and become good citizens. The loss of patriotism and God has caused severe decay in all aspects of a free society.

One has to ask themselves what have I done for my country, my family, my neighbor.

In recent months I have watched Joe Albero do tons of community service. I do not care if you like him or not. What a man does for himself goes to the grave with him. What a man does for others lives for eternity. The question, is his heart pure can only be answered by Joe and his God. Time will tell. I think Joe shows signs of frustration with the current society and he speaks on it. This turns some and attracts others. Thank God we live in a society that allows this freedom of speach. Many have left their blood abroad just so can have this freedom.

As for this murder my thoughts and prayers go out to the family enduring this painful wake up call to act. If anyone knows who did this report them. It is obvious they have no respect for mankind. That means you and me. Do not allow them to breathe another breath of free air.

It is time for an anti-crime unit to combat gangs and street crimes. The concept of a multi-
jurisdictional task force is overdue. Politicians can no longer sit on their hands. The President needs to realize that we need to fix America first, then we can help those abroad.

This county has had three murders in as many months. If that does not wake you up nothing will. Two children and one young adult gone. To take a human life in a non combat situation is the ultimate act of treason. The right to live free as an American is what this country is based on.

To the gangs doing time is a merit badge among their set. These domestic terrorist are and should be a priority. They have infiltrated all walks of life. I recently read where one can take a bus trip into Compton California during daylight hours and tour the "Gansta" life. People are actually paying to do this. Hollywood has glamourized these thugs and terrorist. The gangs condone this they are making money and that is what they are about. It does not matter if the money is made legally or by criminal means we are supporting domestic terrorism. W.T.F. have we become when kids would rather see thugs at work, versus going to Arlington or to see our national monuments.

I pray for peace. God must be busy with so much evil taking place. We are all just specks of sand that comprise a planet. The cool thing is when all the specks of sand adhere to one another they become solid.

I know I have committed my life to combat evil. I know I will do this until there is no more breath in this vessel. Time for all of us to get off the sidelines and into the game.

God Bless America the home of the free and the brave. Work by the sweat of thy brow.

Wow...as a resident on Booth Street I MUST say this...one of the MAIN problems in our area is the disrespect SOME law enforcement has for African Americans. Until we are honest and try to bridge that gap WE will never trust the police. I pay taxes but am treated like a second class citizen. Today in 2010 this still goes on... Simple and plan...trust the police?... why the day after you "tell" you're pulled over and off to jail! DWB is real on the Eastern Shore! (Driving While Black)

Sorry but the "cops are racist" refrain is a copout(no pun intended) for those people who let their neighborhoods go to hell and do nothing out of fear. Its easier to blame the cops and call themn racists than it is to "snitch" on someone in your neighborhood.Bad cops didnt make these young guys go out into the streets and sling dope or hold up stores.

Do not blame the police for crime in your neighborhood...Parents of these troubled neighborhoods get control of your children ! The parents and children of these neighborhoods are the root of the problem ! Step up parents and get your children off the streets ! When the police step in to deal with the problems parents and children totally disrespect them and then expect the police to respect them. Remember the police are there because a crime was reported.

Listen...if you want to have the police solve the crimes in your neighborhoods...quit supporting the ones that have committed crimes and cooperate with the police !

I am tired of hearing how the police are racist and profiling the black communities. These communities are reporting the most crime in Wicomico County and are requesting police assistance. Of course more arrests are made in their communities. There are more crimes committed in these neighborhoods ! It is ashame that there are alot of the older, good people of these neighborhoods that are victims everyday and fear of the younger generation.

Quit blaming the police and become better parents and individuals in your communities ! Until this happens these troubled neighborhoods are nothing but breading grounds for the older and young criminals !

I hear the victim was to be a witness for a murder that occurred in salisbury. Look at how things went down, sounds very possible. Please get these thugs off the streets. Salisbury, please start looking into the idea of a curfew for the youth.

All i want to say is Rest in Peace Greg, you were truly amazing. You were friends with everyone and honestly who couldn't love you... your jokes and your crazy names for everyone. You were a gift while you were here the best ones always go fast i guess god needed someone so special like you for other reasons. until we meet again i miss you

From what I'm reading ppl are trying to make it seem like Greg was a "thug" or "gangster". He wasn't that at all. He was a working young man that kept to himself. Those that he knew, he always kept them entertained. So how about we all just pray for his family's strength.

May God continue to be with Greg's family through these trying times!!! One thing I am trying to understand here is that, if he was suppose to be a witness in a murder trial, where was his witness protection? Now this is a prime example of why people don't "snitch" who is going to protect them from the "thugs". Everybody needs to stay prayed up because God is soon to come back and all signs are here and nobody is paying attention.
