Statement From ACORN Film-maker James O'Keefe

The government has now confirmed what has always been clear: No one tried to wiretap or bug Senator Landrieu’s office. Nor did we try to cut or shut down her phone lines. Reports to this effect over the past 48 hours are inaccurate and false.

As an investigative journalist, my goal is to expose corruption and lack of concern for citizens by government and other institutions, as I did last year when our investigations revealed the massive corruption and fraud perpetrated by ACORN. For decades, investigative journalists have used a variety of tactics to try to dig out and reveal the truth.

I learned from a number of sources that many of Senator Landrieu’s constituents were having trouble getting through to her office to tell her that they didn’t want her taking millions of federal dollars in exchange for her vote on the healthcare bill. When asked about this, Senator Landrieu’s explanation was that, “Our lines have been jammed for weeks.” I decided to investigate why a representative of the people would be out of touch with her constituents for “weeks” because her phones were broken. In investigating this matter, we decided to visit Senator Landrieu’s district office – the people’s office – to ask the staff if their phones were working.

On reflection, I could have used a different approach to this investigation, particularly given the sensitivities that people understandably have about security in a federal building. The sole intent of our investigation was to determine whether or not Senator Landrieu was purposely trying to avoid constituents who were calling to register their views to her as their Senator. We video taped the entire visit, the government has those tapes, and I’m eager for them to be released because they refute the false claims being repeated by much of the mainstream media.

He committed a federal offense by attempting to enter a federal office under a false pretense, he's looking at a min 5-7 years in federal prison.

It doesn't matter what his aim was once he got in, the fact that he dressed up like a phone repair guy to gain access is what he is going to be tried for.

10:39 I don't think he dressed up as a phone repair man. I think he just went into the office and sat down with his cell phone.

Don't think there is any law against going into an open Senator's office and sitting down (no matter what your goal really is). Probably no law against making a videotape of it either.

I do, however, wonder if he was being followed by the FBI. They were there pretty quickly.

10:39 please suck an egg!

When the representatives stop listening to the people that they're supposed to represent citizens must take matters into their own hands !

You are all wrong except for 10:39.

cry about it all you want- this idiot broke the law- and his crime carries a mandatory minimum sentence.

name calling and being wrong about the circumstances wont change that. Look up the report, he and two others were dressed as phone repair guys in an attempt to access a private office on federal grounds.

whatever his motives- he and the two others were going about it in a completely irrational way. He will be prosecuted because of his own bad decisions.

What law did he break expert ?

Well, 1:56- since you cat find that public information on your own- He and his accomplices are charged with entering federal property under false pretenses for the purpose of committing a felony, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

He and the others have already confessed to their crime, not to mention the fact that they are all on camera...

glad I'm not this idiots lawyer!

It is just another Government Bullying tactic. There was no law broke.

He wants the FBI to release the tapes, but he won't release the tapes of his set up of ACORN where he overdubbed and edited the footage.

2:17- He and his accomplices are charged with entering federal property under false pretenses for the purpose of committing a felony, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

He DID in FACT break the law. This in not "bullying" its called "Law Enforcement"

Don't be surprised when he ends up in a federal prison.

Well 2:14 What has he been convicted of ? 2:20 Are you suggesting that ACORN is on the up and up ? And where is your proof that he over dubbed and edited the footage . I saw ACORN associates helping break the law !

I can't believe the Socialists commenting on here defending ACORN that's outrageous . Have you no shame ?

In this day and age we cannot afford to allow people to enter the offices of our public officials with any ill intentions. What if he had been a terrorist? It may not seem so bad that all he was doing was trying to tap the phone lines, but it could have been worse. This shouldn't be ok with anyone! dem or rep!

THIS CONVERSATION is not about acorn- its about the idiot who dressed in a hard hat and overalls to gain access to a private office Illegally.

Since the investigation is still OPEN he hasn't been charged YET. We all know there will be charges.
Do you need a basic explanation of how our justice system works?

He has also ADMITTED to the crime!

well if evtering a federal building under false pretenses is against the law, wouldn't everyone in washington who holds a public office be guilty of this? most of all obama, pelosie, reid, etc?
oh i see those laws are just for the people who disagree with the dems! lol!

3:51 your comment doesn't make sense... The people you mentioned are elected officials who are by right of their position allowed access. If you are trying to say they are entering under a false pretense- you are wrong unless they dress up like a phone guy to enter someone elses office, idiot- look up the definition of "pretense"...

As for your assertion that these laws are one sided, I'm sure if this O'Keefe was a Dem or independent or even from another country he would have been arrested ans shamed just the same. The point is he BROKE THE LAW, got caught and is about to face federal charges.

Anonymous said...

He hasn't broke the law until he's convicted !

Anonymous said...

Yeah, then "neither has Leggs Jr"...

a crime is a crime and you know it.

...bet he has soft hands too- doesn't look like he's had to work much. He should yield quite a few cigarettes for his Prison Pimp!
