State Police Investigating Found Body

Delaware State Police Criminal Unit and the Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife (DNREC) on Thursday January 21, 2010 obtained information regarding a found body on Port Mahon Road in the area of the boat ramp. Port Mahon Road is off of Main Street Little Creek Delaware.

The body was recovered and it is believed to be a female. The body was turned over to the Delaware Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy. State Police have not been able to identify the race of the female thus far or determine the length of time the body has been there.

State Police is in the process of having DNA evidence sent away for testing. Delaware State Police is unable to release additional information related to the condition of the body or how the body was located and by whom. State Police does not have a time line as to when the results will be returned. As a rule of thumb it can take up to 30 days.

Additional information concerning this case will be released when it becomes available.
