RSC Update

From the Chairman
After pushing a radical, job-killing agenda for the past year, Democrats in Congress and the White House now claim they’ve “gotten the message” from the American people. But have they really? With unemployment in double digits, job creation should be the number one priority. That simply isn’t the case.

In an attempt to show concern for the economic struggles of average Americans, President Obama will reportedly unveil a small collection of tax breaks and other items aimed at middle class families during his State of the Union address on Wednesday. These may in fact be worthy proposals, but not a single one has anything to do with promoting job creation.

The secret to economic growth is no secret at all. It’s what we based the RSC’s Economic Recovery Act on more than one year ago. If you allow people to keep more of their hard-earned money and ensure that their savings won’t be decimated by an exploding national debt, the American people will lead the way to prosperity. Until we hear that message repeated back to us from those who control the levers of government in Washington, it will be clear that they still don’t “get it.”

Sincerely,

Congressman Tom Price
Chairman, Republican Study Committee

Obama's original agenda included doubling the earned income tax credit. This is just another way to get what he wants under the guise of helping the middle class. People who qualify get a credit around $5,400 for a family of four. This transfer of wealth has been going on since Reagan signed the bill. (OMG a Republican helping the poor.) How is this helping our economy? Oh that's right - share the wealth.
