The city is not putting this event on. The Fruitland Recreation & Parks people are. The money raised helps maintain the Fruitland Recreation Park (playground, ball fields, walking trail).
I thought the rec and parks people were an advisory group just like the county's commission. Which means it is a part of the city government "putting this event on". If you're raising money for the existing park then it must be for maintenance. So does that mean you are not spending tax dollars to maintain the city park? Or you just don't have enough to fund what you already own?

are there tickets at the door?
Yes
What is the funding being used for? Who is putting this on-- the city?
