The “Hope For Haiti” Telethon Scam

It takes a lot of disdain for the human race to use a catastrophic event such as the earthquake in Haiti to peddle people out of their hard earned dollar. Unfortunately, this is what the “Hope for Haiti” telethon is all about. The donations will benefit such foundations as the Clinton Bush Haiti Foundation and UNICEF. Instead of the proceeds going towards a local Haitian organization that would provide the victims with adequate food and water, the millions will be given to a foundation created in part by George W. Bush.

If that does not alarm you, then you have not done your research. Corrupt politicians have no business taking donations for a country in turmoil. There are plenty of organizations that have been operating in Haiti for years, and have therefore proven themselves to be legitimate. The IRC (International Rescue Committee) spends 90% of its funds on beneficial programs, while only using 4% for administrative costs, and 4% on fundraising. Why then, are the proceeds going to a foundation run by two corrupt politicians?

Thats why we are doing local events to help local missionaries. The donations go directly to the people the minister to and feed daily, not through the big mystical fund in the sky that 95% of will never reach the people who need it.

Get a grip! These organizations do much good long term work. What these people need is a huge response that is evenly distributed, not that local fund raisers are a problem, they just can't match the advantages of big organizations!

so when do the clinton's and bush's start donating some of their millions?
oh that's right, they are donating their time!
pathetic!

Remember in English class when the teacher said you had to support the statement you made or your main topic? Where was the facts that support corruption or misuse of funds from the Clinton Bush Haiti Foundation and UNICEF? UNICEF also spends 90% (Charity Navigator)of its earnings on people in need. The "only decent" Yele Haiti Foundation, the article mentioned, is under investigation but not the Clinton Bush Foundation. Sad because posting this article may prevent someone from donating to a good organization.

10:53 How much time and/or money have you donated? Just wondering...

When is some country going to have a benefit for us?

Because Americans are lazy and stupid!. We would rather watch tv, pick up a cell phone, call and make a donation so we can feel good about ourselves.

How about getting off the couch, turn off the tv, and doing something for our country, our people in need, our homeless, our hungry. People are having their homes forclosed on every day in America, but we are sending our hard earned dollars to Haiti.

This makes sense, why? Yes, Haiti needs our help, as well as help from the whole world. Let's send a portion of the income raised on the telethon and use the rest at home.

I heard of this conspiracy theory about US weapons testing intentional causing the Haiti earthquake, WOW some people will believe anything. Well it’s been a few days now and I have had time to ponder on such a notion and since I don’t trust the government. I began to pull that thread just a little. I began to look at it from a financial aspect, kind of like a “stimulus package”. You’ve seen them before, during 9/11, Katrina, Tsunami’s. The suffering is awful to watch. We as human beings know it’s our duty to help fellow man in his time of desperate need. We have no problem forking out $10 to help. Then we watch the ineptitude of our government manage a disaster, bumbling fools? Or genius? Is it of there own creation? Set in motion by a series of agencies poised to strike at every opportunity? We have enough of them and don’t you doubt the efficiency of some government agencies! The slews of alphabet soup agencies are here to save the day. If you look at it from a financial aspect it makes perfect sense. No one will question the authority to appear to move quickly. Spend lots of money. Which by the way will go along way to replenish the depleted medical supplies, MRE’s, DASINI, coke cola co fuel, etc we are providing. It will put the factories back to work!...but are these our factories going back to work?
It just never seems to be enough to feed the machine, and when our government fails us, as it always does in these cases. The dust settles and we analyze the situation. I bet we get another bureaucracy to oversee another bureaucracy of the bureaucracy. I say let charity begin at home, and fund the relief agencies already established in that hemisphere. Too many cooks ruin the soup! In any case allot of stuff will require the factories to kick back into full gear, so I’ll just re-position my tin foil hat for better reception and get back to work, I got taxes to pay..
