$1 billion vessel is scheduled to make 21-gun salute near ground zero
NEW YORK - A U.S. Navy assault ship built with steel from the fallen World Trade Center and named in honor of the city and state that were home to the twin towers is making its inaugural visit there.
The USS New York was scheduled to sail up the Hudson River Monday. The $1 billion ship was built in Louisiana with about 7.5 tons of World Trade Center steel melted down and used in the bow.
As part of its journey, the ship is scheduled to stop when it nears ground zero, where first responders, families of Sept. 11 victims and the public have been invited to watch a 21-gun salute.

9:33am, that's not hate it's called sarcasm and/or expressing a negative opinion. Hate is much worse. If you could take off the rose-colored Obama glasses, other opinions might not seem so hateful. I forgot only those who think like you and agree with you can be judged appropriately. This ship is a memorial to those who died and should not be celebrated but remembered. The service or our men and women as well should not be celebrated, it should be supported. As an Marine, I think you could lighten up and accept that the President is not popular with everyone and they are entitled to their opinions just as are you.

9:49, since when is equating our nation's freely elected leader with the mass murderers who killed over 3000 innocent men, women, and children considered "sarcasm". There is plenty of valid criticism to be thrown at the pres. but it gets crowded out of the debate too often because of people wanting to scream that the pres. is a terrorist or somehow unamerican. And while you may consider this "sarcastic" there are plenty out there who somehow believe the pres. IS in league with terrorists. How about this; at the next military ceremony, I grab a group of friends and shout terrorists at you and your fellow marines coming back from Iraq/Afghan. I bet many of your fellow marines and many citizens would be in an uproar (and rightfully so).

Like I said 9:49am, you need to lighten up, the post says "the terrorists got their way, somehow they managed to get one of them elected President." It doesn't say Obama is a terrorist, it says Obama is one of them, probably a Muslim, possibly a terrorist, and more than likely someone sympathetic to their cause, otherwise there'd be an uproar over Obama converting to Christianity in the muslim world. He's certainly sympathetic and trying to appease them and the liberals in every foreign policy speech. It's sarcasm, it's not saying he's a terrorist like all the truthers who think Bush and Cheney brought down the towers. You don't see too many liberals getting angry when one of their own say this stuff about Bush or Cheney, do you? Or Bush is Hitler, etc...

I'm no liberal; I follow the truth and logical interpretations of the facts. Yes people were stupid for screaming "Hitler" at Bush/Cheney; this actually took away from what would have been very valid criticism of their administration.
It's a shame that too many on the right still live in this delusional world where the US is a shining star that has never done wrong. It's even worse how someone trying to "wage peace" is considered unamerican or apart of the enemy.

But calling the right out on their hypocrisy while standing up for what IS right does. Keep screaming "terrorists" and "secret muslims while the common sense folk enjoy a healthy debate and hammer out some concrete solutions for our country.
I'm damned glad they built this ship, not just for America, but for the families loved ones that where lost, our troops, and most of all our freedom. People like 9:33, 10:52, 1:52, and 4:16, just be glad that you are allowed to live and be free in the United States of America, if you don't like what people say the shut the hell up! Wake up and start being a true American. People like you asked for the war, and then blame it on other Americans, but you know something? When 9/11 happened I was very pissed at what those terrorists did to my country. I'm glad we have troops over there kickin' ass and standing up for America. Also, Obama is just another political stand up loser, he is not an American in the way things are going right now. He has pushed us into deeper national debt, crime is on the rise, pushing for Government run health care, etc, but I'm against it, I'm for the country- America in which I call home, so if you don't like what others have to say, then don't say a damned thing! Just be glad that you are allowed and have the privilege of being an American!
