Wicomico County Sheriff's Office Press Release
Incident: Assault on a Deputy / Resist Arrest/ Possession of CDS
Date of Incident: 21 October 2009
Location: 900 block of Booth Street, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Keonte D. Bratten, 20, Salisbury, MD
Narrative: On 21 October 2009 at 10:20 PM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle during the investigation into a nearby home invasion style robbery that had recently occurred. The vehicle was discovered to be operated by Keonte D. Bratten of Salisbury. Upon contact with the deputy, Bratten exited the vehicle and the deputy attempted to do a protective pat down for weapons. During this, Bratten pushed the deputy away and attempted to flee. The deputy, along with additional deputies that had arrived, attempted to apprehend Bratten with the intent to place him under arrest. During the subsequent attempts to subdue Bratten and place him in handcuffs, Bratten actively resisted for several minutes until the deputies succeeded in placing him into handcuffs.
Upon a search of Bratten, the arresting deputy located crack cocaine. Due to the amount and the manner of packaging, it was evident that the crack cocaine was destined for distribution. The deputy also located marijuana also in Bratten’s possession.
Bratten was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, Bratten was detained by the Commissioner in lieu of $150,000.00 bond.
Charges:
Possession of Crack Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute
Possession of Crack Cocaine
Possession of Marijuana
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Resist Arrest
Assault 2nd degree on a Law Enforcement Officer – two counts

Another worthless piece of crap off the streets. 1-0 SPD Good going guys.
keonte has been this way since highschool... nothing changes.
More racial profiling. Al Sharpton will be here protesting in the morning LOL. Great work Sheriff Lewis and the rest of the team.
How about they use some of that stimulus money to build more prisons. It would put people to work and we would have a place to house all these clowns instead of slapping them on the hand and telling them to play nice.
wow...wut they dont say is how they beat the crap out of keonte nd how he's in the hospital without a possibility of sustaining life...they beat him out of his clothes...he was a bloody mess....every1 is so quick 2 judge...
508: As they should have, tell your homeboy Keonte to go jump off a bridge
beat his ass take him to jail old school! LOVE IT!
Guess he won't try to run next time, now will he...
The sad facts here are this young man has God given abilities to excell at sports. He is articulate and polite. It is ad that his choice of friends and his desire for fast money have now landed him in jail. The he is in jail so I do not think he has any life threatening injuries. He does have life changing injuries. He now knows that dealing poison on the streets of Wicomico County can and will land you in jail. That fighting when you have a pocket full of crack is a bad idea.
I hope this kid breaks the cycle of hanging in the hood with his buddies that obviously did not want to see him make it out.
The rumor is he was a gifted football player that turned to selling crack for his buddies back home.
Great work WCSO.
As for his family that looks to blame evryone but themselves for not helping this kid make it. Shame on you. As for keonte get away from Salisbury that is your only way out.
They should have just killed him, now we have to pay for his hospital bills and to house him in the jail.
its messed up people only get th police part what about how cops always bating on blacks
1007 get your grammar up yo, if the shoe fits wear it
Apparently 1007 has been the subject of many beat downs and is now incapable of making an educated statement.
In most cases involving being stopped by the Police, if you don't start any trouble - there won't be any trouble.
the kid was a POS in school. Wonder if his dad can get him out of this jam. I think this kid went to alternative school every year of his high school years. The BOE even gave him a diploma. Home the justice system give him no breaks. the school system did.
I love how just because he resisted arrest all of his homeboy thugs start bringing up him getting beaten and abused by the police. Well I mean if your dealing crack (which attracts weird crackheads on our streets of salisbury) you probably should get beat. Glad this worthless scum is off the streets people like this shouldn't be allowed to reproduce lol.
Man I remember keonte from middle school. He ran the 100 yard dash in something like 12 or 13 seconds... in middle school!
Thats crazy, I havent heard from him in forever.
