Group Named Adopt-A-Highway Group Of The Quarter

For Period July-September 2009

Dover
-- The Delaware Department of Transportation's (DelDOT) Adopt-A-Highway (AAH) Program announces that the Group of the Quarter distinction for the period of July through September June 2009 goes to the In Memory of R. Ben Short group. This group collected 40 bags of litter over the last three months.

This group, which is led by Maggie Owens, joined the program in September 1994, and has worked tirelessly to keep their adopted stretch of Wilson Hill Road. Ms. Owens has even worked with DelDOT and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control to address illegal dumping that occurred on this roadway.

Being designated as the Group of the Quarter has its privileges. Not only does it make Delaware's roadsides cleaner, safer and healthier for everyone, the groups receive public recognition. DelDOT posts a special "thank you" sign under their existing AAH sign, they are featured on DelDOT's Web site (www.deldot.gov), they receive an award certificate and their hometown newspaper is informed of their service in the community.

DelDOT congratulates Ms. Owens and her family on earning the title of AAH Group of the Quarter.
