Senator says there's no precedent for citizens reporting 'fishy' comments
Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, today demanded that President Obama either halt a program already widely known in the blogosphere as the "snitch" program or define how he will protect the privacy of those to send or are the subject of e-mails
to the flag@whitehouse.gov e-mail address.
The White House only announced the program a day earlier, pleading with people around the nation to forward to the White House e-mail address anything they might see "about health insurance reform that seems fishy."
"I am not aware of any precedent for a president asking American citizens to report their fellow citizens to the White house for pure political speech that is deemed 'fishy' or otherwise inimical to the White House's political interests," the Texas senator wrote in a letter today to Obama.

It's not just him I believe it's the whole political system. The people need to revolt together against the Government .
The whole concept of "Trust No One". And we thought the X-Files was fiction. :-) This smacks of the 3rd Reich in the most vile sense, destroy community values by making you suspect your neighbor, whether it be your physical neighbor or cyber. Squash free thought, listen only to the propaganda machine in Washington and MSM (they are the same, aren't they?)
Folks, this government is pushing anyone that even remotely believes that the Constitution, based on Judeo-Christian principles, towards either exile or action. I hope it's peaceful action, but the chances of exile are slim, because the mindset that is present in DC has already gobbled up any countries might have provided a respite for people of like mind. Our forefathers were fortunate that this land was available to emigrate to, we who have similar beliefs are not so fortunate.
The Administration is attempting to do the same thing they did during the campaign with regard to spurious claims being propagated about Obama (you know, the emails that said he's a Muslim and was planning to take the oath of office on the Koran, that he was the antichrist, among others). It's hard to debunk that kind of disinformation unless you find out about it. The claims came so fast and furious (and were so patently ridiculous in most cases) that the Obama campaign had to set up a website just to try and get the debunking information out there.
Unfortunately, when you're a candidate for office you can do certain things that you shouldn't do as President. The Senator, and many of the commenters here have a fair point. What the Administration should have asked for is for people to forward any claims they receive or questions they have about the health care plan to the Administration, but they should have requested that any identifying information about the original source be stripped out - i.e., only send the "fishy" content, not any information about those spreading it. That way, the Administration can keep track of what's being said without creating a situation where it looks like they are collecting information about those who disagree with them.
But let's be realistic - people are probably forwarding those things to the White House and/or their Representatives/Senators even without being asked. If you put something into an email and blast it out, you don't know what's going to be done with it or where it's going to end up, so if you're concerned about who might read it, you probably ought to use some kind of anonymous id, anyway.

Dems should be worried. Most got in on the coat tails of Obama. Now that we have our eyes open we will vote in conservatives like Grady Rombald to maintain the system of checks and balances!
I may not have a college education but I do read. This is one of the most scariest things yet. I am totally against the health care reform. Who ever wrote this bill needs to be hung and not in effigy.
This Obama snitch/citizen information collection database is more than scary; its unconstitutional.
Folks need to wake up and demand action.
This Obama snitch request and calling Voters expressing their concerns radicals is "the pot calling the kettle black". This is called a grass roots movement by getting voters involved expressing their views publicly and in public forums. At least that is what Obama supporters called it. So the tide has turned on Obama and his supporters by using their own words and tactics against him and now it is unconstitutional so they say. What is the difference?
The Obama excuser's are the one's that need to be snitched out. Watch your back against these low lives that just look the other way as Obama tries to force the country into Communism.
What ever happened to FREEDOM OF SPEECH. This sounds alot like communism. If you speak out against the government you get locked up. What in the world has happen here in the USA. Wake up Americans this is totally against the constitution. Our founding fathers must be turning over in their graves.
