CAN SALISBURY’S MAYOR VETO A CITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION?
The answer to that question may depend on who holds the office of mayor and who is City Attorney.
Some years ago Barrie Tilghman vetoed Resolution No 765, passed to authorize the extension of sewer and water lines to Perdue Stadium and Wor-Wic College, and Paul Wilber had no problem with that. But according to his statement in the Daily Times this week, Jim Ireton may not be able to veto the Resolution that was passed the Council to authorize the City’s purchase of some polluted property on Lake Street.
Go figure.

IRETON DID IT!
Beaucoup Kudos.
Hey the man finally grew some stones, and now ya want to bust him.
anonymous 3:44, STOP THE BS!
You call doing the smart thing STONES!
Come on now. Look, I'll give credit where credit is do with anyone. However, you act just like a pansy from pinkyville, much like Obamabots. He did his job, that's all. It's an excellent move but he'd be tossed out of Office if he hadn't.
STONES, by the way, is flat out firing Chiefy Webster, Paul Wilber and Pam Oland, that's STONES.
"pansy from pinkyville"
whaaaaahahaha, now that's funny.
why is the truth at times soooo funny.
thanks for the laugh
Joe:
Get him a third vote on the Council and heads will roll. Without that its a NO-GO!
Ring their phones off the hook. The numbers are on the city;s web site. Call Smith, Shields and Comegys and let them know how you feel. Maybe that should be the top post tomorrow Joe. Copy Cohen and Campbell so that they will know what the others would otherwise not admit to receiving.
If Wilber continues to publicly issue his incorrect legal opinions to the media, I'd say someone needs to contact the State Bar Association.
Lets just do some homework, all of you that want to get rid of Wilber, it is very simple, look at his "advise" or his lack thereof, the most recent of course this boondoggle with the property, however, three or so weeks ago there was his failure to tell the mayor and council that the Ethics violation suit was a fraud, and that there was no baisis for it in the code, or the law.
We can each come up with at least one "error" by wilber, then someone look up the public record of his salary, and then we will find out how much each "error" cost the citizens. Hurray Mayor you are getting the message. Thank goodness. Change is really going to come after all.
I agree 100% with 5:03! Citizens of Salisbury better start taking action on things they disagree with instead of talking amongst themselves about it. Let those sorry suckers know in no uncertain terms that Salisbury residents DO NOT want to pay for this albatross.
Keep choppin Jim, you cut enough pieces of the beast off and it will fold. Now is your time make the best of it.
flat our firing would be wrongful termination and very costly. are we not able to commend the chief for the recent work he did at the hotel.
