Ezeikiel Emanuel speaks.

Ezekiel Emanuel, Obama's 'Deadly Doctor,' Strikes Back

Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the medical ethicist and oncologist who advises President Obama, does not own a television, and if you catch him in a typically energized moment, when his mind speeds even faster than his mouth, he is likely to blurt out something like, "I hate the Internet." So it took him several days in late July to discover he had been singled out by opponents of health-care reform as a "deadly doctor," who, according to an opinion column in the New York Post, wanted to limit medical care for "a grandmother with Parkinson's or a child with cerebral palsy." (Read an interview with Obama on health care.)

"I couldn't believe this was happening to me," says Emanuel, who in addition to spending his career opposing euthanasia and working to increase the quality of care for dying patients is the brother of White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel. "It is incredible how much one's reputation can be besmirched and taken out of context." (See pictures of health care for the uninsured.)

Figured I'd keep it fair and balanced.

Be careful, Chelsea. If you start posting info about the other side, the nuts will attack you! Good for you for thinking for yourself!

This is a hard take, but I'll try. If I can't afford good health insurance, then I have this choice. At least it's offered, and available. But it has to be funded by someone. Someone it paying for this camp and its doctors. Guess who? It's the insurance rate payers, of course, same as it ever was. I pay by traveling 300 miles to sit in line in the hot sun for a little care I need. If I don't like this scenario, I have the option (but some don"t) to work harder to make more money to get a better policy.
There's more to be addressed here, like tort law and breaking out of state rules for providers, but that's another level.

I suggest you read several of his articles written last year before he was tapped to be health care advisor to the Messiah. Emanuel most certainly has stated that some lives are of more value to a society (like healty 20 year olds) than the elderly or infants. Whether you choose to willfully ignore his actual writings and opinions, is up to you.

I have looked at the video and I only saw 1 skinny person! I will bet that most of them smoke cigarettes and drink a quart of mountain dew every day. I know the hills of Virginia and these wonderful people are tough people that don't really see much need for medical doctors until it becomes critical as that has been their way of life for many many years. Their lifestyles are quite unique as they have little communication with large cities which are quite some distance away. These people work for the most part in the coal mines as their families before them. I think this news reporter is using these people and slanting the real picture and their lifestyle to further the obama health care plan. DO YOU THINK for 1 minute these people will have better access to a doctor in those mountains. I think not. Surely, their health care is not easy to come by due to where they are located....that is unless there will be a Health Bus to transport them to the nearest medical facility. Heck, Hatteras, N.C. has little heath care as well because of where they are located. For the most part, islanders have to travel to Norfolk for care. There is a small hospital now in Nags Head, but who knows with situations like they are today, it might close soon. Is the obama plan going to fix systems everywhere.... nope... and it will hurt the good ones... JMO

But actually, it doesn't matter what Ezekiel thinks.
It matters what Obama thinks.
And he's made it pretty clear what he thinks and what he plans to do.

Many criminals, when caught red handed, come to court and plead not guilty? In the court of public opinion, beyond a reasonable doubt does not apply. Any of the legal tricks don't work. The only question to be decided is did this doctor write or say what is charged?
For too long politicians have gotten away with denying their actions. I think people have known this, but let it slide. For the first time, in my long memory, folks are saying , ENOUGH.

Emanuel wrote a very telling piece for the Lancet clearly outlining the tiers for deciding who deserved first treatment. I suggest you google and read it, you will understand why he would be in full denial mode now.

Interesting how fast opponents to big drug/insurance/lobbyists like dickarmey are bad-mouthed (besmirched). Folks, in my opinion, these opponents to healthcare reform are many and well financed. You should be afraid all right, but not of our President. Wake up!

I've read the articles Emanuel is quoted from. I highly doubt many, including the charming man who told me to get back in to the kitchen, read them and thought for themselves.

I just figured someone needs to start putting up the other side of a debate, that way we all have both sides facts and figures in front of us, and can each make our own informed decision, rather than letting Fox News or MSNBC or any other new organization decide for us.

And if you're going to insult me 7:38am, have the balls to leave your name. I'm not afraid to, so why should you be? Remember, I'm just a woman who apparently belongs in the kitchen.
