Location of Incident: SR 9 , Lewes Georgetown Highway east of SR 5 1 mile east of Harbeson, Sussex, DE
Date and Time of Occurrence: July 1, 2009 on or about 16:23 hours
Victim: Keyshawn Purnell, 17, Seaford , DE
Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that took the life of a 17 year-old Seaford male.
The crash happened today just after 4:20 pm on Lewes Georgetown Highway east of SR 5. Keyshawn Purnell, 17 , was driving a 1997 Ford Taurus on SR 9 eastbound. Vincent Mosher, 39, Salisbury, MD was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer westbound on SR 9 approaching the Taurus.
For unknown reason the Taurus exited the south edge of the roadway. Purnell overcorrected and crossed back onto SR 9 and then in to the path of westbound traffic. The Ford Explored attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful. The front end of the Explorer struck the passenger side of the Taurus. Both vehicles came to rest in the grass median.
Purnell was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries he sustained in the crash. Purnell was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Mosher was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
It is unknown if alcohol was a factor at the time of the crash. The investigation is still on going.

Having Hard Time Believeing This Was Susicide.
What Ever Happen To The Investigation Into Tony Bruce's Death?
Did That Get Swept Under The Rug????
My prayers go out to his family and friends.
Another young person lost. Something that probably could have been prevented if he would have been wearing a seat belt.
And tell me again why you don't wear yours?
is this the same vincent mosher that works at SPD
God bless both families.
Copied word for word from WBOC site!
anonymous 11:25, I beg to differ. We ALL received the same Press Release at the same time. However, might I suggest you look at the time Salisbury News posted ours versus theirs.
Besides, this is NOT a competition. The fact of the matter is, most people choose to come to Salisbury News for their internet information.
To suggest I copied WBOC is completely out of line. If I use ANY of their information I credit them 100%.
The ONLY person who would even make such a statement steals anyone and every one's photos and information in the hopes that some day he might become somebody.
Actually, Raymond Rivera wrote this on July 1, 2009 at 10:57 PM for WBOC news. word for word.
Seriously though, who cares?! Two families are forever changed by this sad accident.
Well here's the deal. I happened to be up late last night when ther message came through. Considering there were next to no comments coming in that late, I chose to put up the Post at 6:00 AM instead.
Anyhow, like I said, who cares. By the time 99.9% of our viewers for up, the Post was up for them to read. I personally didn't think it was a breaking news story, so I held it off.
No one is copying anyone, that's the key point. I simply cannot see why this is even being discussed.
Rest In Peace Keyshawn.
Everyone misses your smile, and your laugh. But we will never forget you!
Your family is in our prayers.
Keyshawn isn't the type that would drink. He was a good student in school (straight A's). Keyshawn was shy and always wanted to be safe..meaning he always wore a seatbelt. I truely believe that his seatbelt could have failed him.
Rest In Peace Keyshawn...I Love you man. Class of 2010 will surely miss you buddy.
