MORRISTOWN, N.J. A New Jersey man whose driver's license has been suspended 78 times has pleaded guilty to his 15th drunken-driving offense.
Shaun Campbell of East Rutherford told a judge Tuesday that he had been drinking "quite a bit" of beer when he crashed his SUV head-on into a pickup in April. The truck's occupants, a man and his 4-year-old daughter, were not seriously hurt.

Just another law put in place which is not enforced and judges will not make examples out of these people so what incentive is there for them not to do it again?!
When I was growing up, my parents drank A LOT and I still remember, like it was yesterday, riding in the car with them and how terrified I was! We're talking 40 years ago! To this day, if I have ONE drink, I will not drive. I don't care if it's one block, one mile or 10 miles!
I wish every person who drinks and then drives would have their licenses taken away and put in jail for a minimum of 1 year.
MAYBE that would help teach them a lesson and make it so it's not so desirable for them to do it again!
Stop passing laws that you aren't willing to enforce and punish for!
It seems to me that there are a lot of people who know this law is a joke and they'll get a slap on the wrist so they continue to drink and drive. One of these days, the tragedy will happen that they either kill themselves or someone else.
This is ridiculous. His license should be revoked permanently. Or does the police department just depend on him for revenue?
Some people just should not drink.If he absolutely positively cannot resist the bottle he needs to give up driving forever.
In response to Grannydragon- The police arrested him 15 times therefore they did their job. It is the court's job to impose the punishment. The fact that he apparently did no jail time has nothing to do with the police wanting "revenue".
This is such a shame. How do you get your 15th DUI charge and not spend the rest of your life (or a good portion of it) in jail? It's not the New Jersey DUI laws that are the problem. This guy must have a good lawyer.
