UPDATE On Courtesy Chevrolet


OK, while I was being more trusting yesterday than I should have been, let's get you the details of what is really going on at Courtesy Chevrolet.

First of all, I did call the owner yesterday and he wasn't in either Dealership. Nevertheless, I got my confirmation and answers by my line of questions and I was very frank, (politely) with the people there letting them know this was Joe Albero from Salisbury News.

I explained how I had just confirmed that Courtesy Chevrolet was losing their franchise with GM and they would no longer be an authorized GM Dealer to sell New Cars or Trucks.

They agreed and stated they would instead be selling Used Cars, just as my source informed me. Bottom line is, they will be selling Used Cars and New Cars. However, they will be using their Midway Chevrolet Dealership to purchase the vehicles and then have to transport them to Salisbury.

So technically I was right, they're losing their Authorized GM New Car Sales Dealership. Mr. Nordstrom, you owe me an apology.

As for Barrett Chevrolet, additional sources continue to tell me they too will be losing their Franchise and their partial letter sent yesterday indicates they are afraid to show the whole truth. That's cool though, we have time to wait and see what happens.

In the mean time, Mr. Nordstrom, you come off as a typical Used Car Salesman who enjoys twisting the truth. Confirmed by your own Staff!

If you want to do "The Ole Eastern Shore two step" get some better dancing shoes brother. Next time you twist the truth somebody might have to wash your mouth out with soap.

The wording on Joe's first post regarding this was a little strong, admittedly, but he wasn't wrong about them not keeping their franchise. If they're smart they can make more money selling and servicing used cars, so they shouldn't be too upset or embarassed.
Lying about it is a whole different matter.

IMHO, dealers are afraid to make public the fact they are losing their franchise because it will make it more difficult to unload their new inventory. Most people, given two seemingly equal deals, will go with the dealer who will still be franchised after the sale.

What you are also about to see is dealers and manufactures together no longer doing that extra that makes you come back. My daughter's car engine died at 80,000 miles. The engine had a 60,000 mile warranty, however we had all the service records, etc. In the old days, the fact we had purchased 5 vehicles from them in the past 3 years would have influenced them to offer some sort of compensation, split cost or something. But in today's economy, both the dealer and GM said sorry, it's your problem.

What I would like to share is that owners of GM products will likely have to travel much farther to have warranty performed. If what I hear happens, that is no Cadillac dealer on the EASTERN SHORE, if you own a Cadillac you will have to go across the bridge or go north for warranty. This is nothing any dealer has decided. GM has made this decision.

As I stated earlier, a check of the facts, first , is the correct way to go. That's what a real news source would do. Passing yourself off as half right, but it is ok,because I am me, is just not good enough.

I told you to get you Umbrella when Ray says it is sunny outside !! Also get your hip boots. New car franchise legal agreements are very explicit about displaying and selling their products. They clearly do not allow sending NEW product to a Used Car Dealer for display or sale.

Anyone who knows how Mr. Nordstrom operates will also tell you that he will not commit to the millions of dollars worth of used vehicle inventory that it will take to compete. Most likely he is already considering (if not actively seeking) selling the property to someone like The Car Store. It is a valuable piece of property even in this market.

It seems like this has become a discussion about the dealers, but it's really about GM.
And their demise was only a matter of time.
Their products are crap, and they don't really care, not withstanding all the happy chat about customer service and all.
They developed "planned obsolescence" in the early 70's, where their cars began to just disintegrate at about 60,000 miles. It was an amazing feat of engineering, designed to make you buy a new one.
But they lost me, and many like me. You couldn't give me a GM vehicle now.
I say let them fold.

If Courtesy closes you'll get no tears here. You reap what you sow. They screwed me over years ago...made a big deal over $50 and lost a customer for life...I say good riddance!

What is the difference between YOU griping over $50.00 or Courtesy griping over $50.00? Sounds like to me you are no better than them.

I love my Cadillac. You don't need a Cadillac dealer to get GM service, any GM dealer will do.

My hats off to Pohanka for diversifying. They will be around for a long time.

When it's $50 I didn't owe and they hold my car ransom for that..I say screw them. My point is if you're willing to lose a customer over that, you deserve what you get. In my case you get no more business from me or my family. We were a 2 car chevy household 15 years ago and since that time I haven't owned another one, or stepped foot in that place.

Friendly piece of advise about servicing your Cadillac's.. guess who won't work on them.. surprise.. Price or Barrett.. they send them all to Courtesy to get them worked on because thats where the real technicians are.. Two GM world class technicians and one who is almost world class.. and no I'm not talking about ASE trained.. ASE any idiot can pass.. GM WORLD CLASS.. the best of the best.. no one can come close to touching the talent shared between these three individuals.. and as far as warranty purposes only a Cadillac dealer can perform warranty repairs on these vehicles.. First State in Georgetown won't even work on them...

And 1:40 was it $50.00 you didn't owe or $50.00 you didn't think you owed.. It was probably one of those circumstances where you figured hell the company has money they should have covered it for me.. is the battle worth it for $50.00.. you probably go through life trying to get as much as you can for free at the expense of others who work hard for their money..

World class my a.. them guys still CAN'T fix nothing ..just look at your CSI an you will know who the best is ... PERIOD...

8:24 am I'm sure you know all about CSI and what it means.. and you are probably one of the technicians from other shops that are jealous.. you probably have a stnadard ASE that technicians who work at Meineke have and like to think that you are the best of the best... CSI is okay but alot of times the dealerships get bashed with bad surveys because GM can't get them the parts they need. Customers don't always realize that there are alot of things that we cannot control.

And in your opinion who is the best?? Do tell

Mr. Nordstrom doesn't care about his employees anymore, that's for sure. Everything is being dictated by the general manager, who is running both businesses into the ground.
