Date and Time of Occurrence: Thursday, June 11, 2009 on or about 10:50 hours

Suspect(s): John David Stringfellow, 36, Salisbury, MD

Resume:

State troopers were called to the Eagles Nest Day Care near Milton yesterday for the violation of a custody order.

Stringfellow responded to the day care and took custody of his 3 year – old daughter at approximately 10:50 am. Workers at the day care attempted to reason with Stringfellow asking not to take the girl, however, he took his daughter and left the facility.

Troopers were given a Court Order from Family in Court in Sussex County indicating that Springfellow was not permitted to have visitation with his daughter during the time he removed her from day care.

After the incident Family Court issued and emergency order giving full custody to the girls mother.

Delaware State Police were assisted by the Maryland State Police in checking Stringfellow’s residence in Salisbury, MD but had no luck finding the child.

At approximately 8 pm on Thursday evening, Greenbelt Police, MD, located Stringfellow and the daughter in a residence in Prince George’s County Maryland. The child was unharmed and Stringfellow is facing extradition back to Delaware for interference with custody of a child across state lines. Once back in Delaware he will be brought before family court for violating the court order.

The 3 year-old girl was reunited with her mother.
