President Obama took his health care reform plan to the American people in a forum at the White House Wednesday night broadcast live on ABC. Obama took questions on a wide variety of topics, from how he plans to pay for the reform to whether people will be able to keep their current insurance plans and doctors.
A fact check on President Obama's main messages of Wednesday night's forum reveal a president eager to make his case to the public -- but sometimes glossing over the thorny details of how to achieve reform.

Republicans are throwing the real monkey wrench in all this with the talk about competition and no public option. Just business as usual with the insurance companies.
3.47 trillion dollars, over ten years.
His performance last night on ABC was pathetic.
I would be all for a medical system overhaul IF everyone paid their fare share. How just is it that a working person has to pay huge insurance premiums for plans that dont even pay until you spend 2 grand in deductibles or go without altogether but one who does not work has free medical care,no deductible,no cost.Any reform needs to be aimed at the disappearing middle class.
So is ABC.
A more responsible health care goes to treating American citizens and legal residents. Then charge double for illegals and if they don't pay then deport them. The deportation process would cost less than the medical cost and other tax payer expense. Obama did'nt address this cost and how to reduce this tax payer expenditure. My tax dollars should go to American citizens. OOPS !!! Another senior moment because SSI is giving to them to.
The problem is Obamas plan is so the illegals and bums that don't want to work can have health care. Yes and we the working people will be paying the price for it. I told you before he was elected that if he got in office he would tax us out the ass and now it is happening. He lied about everything in his campaign promises to not raise taxes. Well guess what? I used to work for PRMC and when the bums and homless come in the ER. They are not turned away. They are treated just like us working folks and we pay the bill. So why do we need health care reform. Just another way of the government control of every part of our life.
This is nothing more than another Government takeover of your rights and freedoms!
Let me decide if I want insurance or not. I, nor ANYBODY else in this country has EVER been unable to get health care.
The crisis is made up!
You young people out there that never have a need to see a doctor are going to pay whether you want to or not!
What is wrong with a public option for healthcare? The insurance companies have held a monopoly on healthcare for years and what do we get? 10-20% annual increases in cost to the consumer. This will level the playing field. This is a good thing.

If you read Anon 8:52's comment, you would realize what is wrong with Obamas plan.It will do very little,if anything, for working class people who are already taxed to the hilt to support government programs they do not benefit from.
Hey 10:47 you are an idiot didn't you read anon 8:52. The government has screwed up everything they get their grubby little hands on and now they want to screw up our health care. Just go check out the other countries that went to a National Health Care Plan and see how it worked for them. It didn't.
They will tell you what doctors you can see and control much more of your life and say it is for your own good. Well I don't know about you but I was born in a free country called the United States of America. The way Obama is going it will soon be called The Socialist States of America. Because that is his idea of how things should be. Under total government control. No matter what doctor you have if you sign up for the government plan they will pay him less money, so you will have to find a not so good doctor that will accept what the government plan pays. That is how they will control you and as a result you get sub-standard medical care. Just check out the other countries that tried it. And being born free I think I am more capable of making my own decisions then to have Government make them for me.
