Actress and pop icon Farrah Fawcett died today after a lengthy battle with cancer. Though not confirmed, Fawcett's cancer, which originated in her anus and eventually spread to her liver, may well have been caused by a case of HPV (Human Pappiloma Virus), which is the most common, yet most often undetected sexually transmitted disease (STD) in the United States in both males and females.
Fawcett's choice to draw attention to her case after her condition was leaked by a hospital employee was admirable. As a celebrity recognized by millions, she took advantage of the time she had left to bring her disease and her struggle with it to the public eye.

From all accounts from the people who knew her, she was a beautiful person, not just in looks. She was kind, honest, and generous. So sorry to see her go.

She was a classy actress and will be missed.Her famous swimsuit poster probably still is one of the most popular pin-ups of all time,right up there with Betty Grable and Marilyn Monroe.
She's at peace now after her long battle. I remember watching her on Charlie's Angel's and seeing her on my brother's bedroom walls. What will Ryan do now?

I had one of them posters and some nights, well I would turn the light off and turn on some music and.......well lets just say I know where your brother was-coming from.(And I mean that with the utmost respect).
5:54, the vaccine referenced is for some strains of HPV (human papilloma virus). This commonly carried herpes strain is a prime cause of cervical cancer and is believed to have been at the root of Fawcett's cancer. It can lie dormant in the body for years before causing problems. Men carry it and transmit it, and I don't know of any diseases men get as a result of exposure to this strain.
It only takes one exposure via sexual contact, so don't be disgusting about it. Instead, make sure the woman you love gets regular annual PAP smears, mammograms and other cancer checks.
My bad...I didnt know that HPV caused other cancers besides cervical.
The vaccine is very effective but not everyone needs it.If you are monogamous or not sexually active you are at a much lower risk.Nevertheless,women should be aware of the vaccine and have access to it without prejudice-it will save lives!
