WORCESTER COUNTY WILL BE REZONED SOON

Many folks apparently have not heard that the zoning of their property is being reviewed by the County officials and could be changed in a month or so. Anyone still in the dark better check on things before it's too late.

This is from the County's website: "The draft Zoning Maps outline any proposed changes to individual properties. The draft documents are also available for review at all five Worcester County Library branches and the county website at http://www.co.worcester.md.us/. Area residents may send questions or request a free CD (limit one per household) containing the draft documents and maps to DRP at zoning@co.worcester.md.us. For more information, please call Phyllis Wimbrow, Deputy Director of DRP, at 410-632-1200, extension 1110."

The link to the proposed zoning districts map is: http://www.co.worcester.md.us/news/DRP/Prop_Zoning_Districts_031709.pdf

The proposed zoning code changes do no seems to be posted on the County's website -- if so, could someone please give the link address in a comment to this post.

The website states that there will be a public hearing on June 2, but does not give the place or time of day -- if anyone knows about that, please give the details in a comment.

UPDATE: The a link download the new zoning code can be found on the County website. In the white box on the lower part of the page is a tab for Zoning Draft Code. Please let everyone know to keep in mind this new Zoning Code has not been approved by the County Commissioners yet to it is possible that it can change.

If I'm reading it correctly our land is set to be rezoned for E1 to R1. I have no clue about zoning so not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing.

Just make sure that you understand that rezoning in general is not 'good' or 'bad', its something that needs to happen every few years because we have such outdated Euclidian zoning. If we had form-based zoning codes this would be less of an issue, but sadly its not the case.
