God's Busy

If you don't know GOD, don't make stupid remarks!!!!!!!

A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments.. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan . One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of the ACLU.

One day the professor shocked the class when he came in he looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, 'God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes.' The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop.

Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, 'Here I am God. I'm still waiting.' It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him, knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold.

The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked, stunned, and sat there looking on in silence. The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, 'What the heck is the matter with you? Why did you do that?'

The Marine calmly replied, 'God was too busy today protecting American soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid stuff and act like an idiot. So, He sent me.'

I like this story everytime I read it.

This fairly reflects the violence of believers against non-conformers over the centuries. It's just another version of the Spanish Inquisition, or the Taliban's murderous cleansing of those that don't buy every silly line in the religious book.

Religion stinks... This story explains why. Thanks.

He got what he deserved, I bet you he wont bluff against God again, LMBO

Oh... oh... raises hand. Can I make up stories too? Maybe one about an ignorant fundi who doesn't believe in evolution and wants "creation science" taught in schools because his Sky God says he is the only God. It would be a great story. I promise!

9:21 "He got what he deserved"

Don't people who don't like god need to be killed??

Why not make the story even more exciting? Change:

"knock me off this platform" to "strike me dead"

and "cold-cocked him" to "shot him in the head".

There. A funnier American Taliban version...

I'm with R1, it's a great story. The professor should have asked for a winning lottery ticket instead of being knocked out, because he got what he asked for, a violent blow. As for believing, how about the guy who knew a flood was coming, says no to a passing boat, then no to the Coast Guard then drowns, and when he gets up to Heaven, asks God why he wasn't saved. God's reply-I sent you a boat, then the Coast Guard. Moral of both stories, God gave you a brain and free will, it is up to you to believe, participate in life and to help yourself.

And we fault the Muslems for thinking their religion is the right religion.

hahahaha. that was good.. why do people act that way? if you dont beleive then keep it to yourself. the rest of us do and he is a WONDERFUL god...

Great story, I wish the Marine would go to SU and knock a few of those bleeding hearts off their stools!

10:27 "why do people act that way?"

Who? The jerk or the professor?

The story is a classic ad hominem example of arguing for religion. The fact is, that atheists don't argue like this at all. Have you ever seen an atheist challenge god? The usual atheist argument goes something like this:

Religious: I believe in god and you should too.
Atheist: Why?
Religious: Because it's in the bible and God wrote it.
Atheist: How do you know it was really god who wrote the bible?
Religious: Because God says so.
Atheist: WTF? That make no sense at all.
Religious: You're a bad person with no morals?
Atheist: What do morals have to do with religion?
Religious: Well then, PROVE that god doesn't exist.
Atheist: WTF? Why don't you prove that the Easter bunny doesn't exist.
...etc...

Hey Anon. you the same Anon from 2 centz blog ?

I keep hearing about "Liberal Hate", and then I see comments like this:

"Great story, I wish the Marine would go to SU and knock a few of those bleeding hearts off their stools!"

I've never heard a Liberal ask that people commit violence against believers. The only people that show hate are Conservatives.

Which anon?

11:02 here.. Never heard of 2 centz blog. Nonplused.

11:32 "How about Hitler?"

You think Hitler was a bleeding heart liberal??
Hitler was an extreme conservative (against individual freedoms, and for corporate profits)

11:39am, Hitler was a crazy person, like a lot of libs, so it's no wonder people get confused. You too though are confused, because conservatives believe in individual freedoms and responsibility and also believe in moral obligations to society as a whole, which means no killing, stealing, etc, basically Ten Commandments. You must help yourself earn your rewards and not want big gov't making to take care of things for you, it's not the way God intended. Here's my poser for the day...Why is ok for libs to be SO Against torture, but then feel compelled to want to see Sean Hannitty waterboarded and say so openly? Didn't known lib-Wanda Sykes wish for liver cancer on Ex-VP Cheney? Never heard a lib ask for violence against non-believers but they're always a lib somewhere with his own agenda advocating violence on believers. Examples, animal lovers on this blog, PETA, Al Sharpton (against the innocent Duke LAX team) and then never apologized, Wanda Sykes, Sandra Berghard...

the atheist? 11:02 sorry forgot to put the time.

11:57 "...because conservatives believe in individual freedoms..."

Uhhhh. No. You apparently don't know what a conservative is. Here, try this link and take the test:
http://www.theadvocates.org/quizp/index.html
If you're a true conservative, you will be against personal freedoms.

Anonymous said...

12:13pm from your source, I have to say UH, NO!, you're apparently reading into the quiz what you think you know because not every conservative is a robot.

"Conservatives tend to favor economic freedom, but frequently

support laws to restrict personal behavior that violates "traditional

values." They oppose excessive government control of business, while

endorsing government action to defend morality and the traditional

family structure. Conservatives usually support a strong military,

oppose bureaucracy and high taxes, favor a free-market economy,

and endorse strong law enforcement. "
By supporting tradional values (ie. 10Commandment stuff) does not mean that they don't support individual freedom-these are not mutually exclusive. By the way, I'm a libertarian on the quiz...did anyone else take it?

did any of you religiuos people actually read the ten commandments? it devotes 2 or 3 of the commandments to telling people not to blasphem or say things about god. but nothing in the commandments about child molesting or rape or genocide. but hey it covers you coveting your neighbors wife and ox. i am happy to know that a few thinking people actually read this blog.

Anonymous said...

Let's see anon 5:36, the 10 Commandments on...
Rape and child molestation-do not covet your neighbor's ox or his wife(includes his children as well as the possessions since he is responsible for them)
Genocide-thou shalt not kill, why do you need a rule for how many??
Maybe you should think before you post and see if you can grasp the 10 commandments then come back with something good.
