A Daily Times Article Worth A Read

Salisbury — By 10 a.m., 486 voters had cast a ballot in the city, about 3.8 percent of the eligible voter population.

Residents filing in and out of Harvest Baptist Church in District 2 at about 1 p.m. said they came out to seek change and to exercise their voting "privilege."

"Voting is a privilege," said Jane Whitmore, who declined to reveal who she voted for, but agreed with her husband Chuck that people who don't vote shouldn't complain about the services the city offers.

Of the few voters polled, many had cast a ballot for former councilman Jim Ireton and incumbent Councilwoman Debbie Campbell.

"I voted for Jim Ireton and Debbie Campbell because I thought Gary Comegys was running a sleazy campaign and Debbie Campbell sticks up for (residents)," said Virginia Hussey.

WOW! This seems to be the first non-bias thing the Times has published in years! Maybe they are finally realizing that Ireton is going to win and are switching over their loyalty!

and since when has voting been a privilege!? Drive is a privilege, VOTING IS A RIGHT!

Dave

I thought the same thing, but it may also be a trigger to get Comegys supporters/Ireton haters to the polls, you know, stating the exit polls in favor of Ireton and all....just a thought.

3:50 do you also hear Chiefy's phone burning up with him calling all his connections for a new job?

ready for Ireton: that is an interesting theory, but the quote they featured about the woman saying comegys was running a sleazy campaign may suggest they are on Ireton's side now? Or maybe they just really want to piss off the Comegys group and get them voting...I guess I could see either way.

oh and btw. Are the poll results going to be on wboc? or wmdt? or just read delmarvanow.com + this blog? I want to know asap!

I consider voting to be not only a right but a responsibility! And yet, it is also a privilege. This is why convicted felons are denied their right to vote!
