Chicken House Fire This Morning On Mt. Vernon Rd.

At 10:13 this morning an alarm was sounded for Princess Anne Fire Co. (station 5) and Mt. Vernon Fire Co. (station 6) to a chicken house fire at the Czeczulin Farm on Mt. Vernon Road. The chicken house was fully involved by the time the companies were on the location.

John's been a farmer in Mt. Vernon for over forty years. He escaped from communist held Eastern Europe in the forties. He is one of the charter members of the Mt. Vernon Volunteer Fire Company, and put a lot of time and money into getting the department rolling. His farm has also been one of the best kept operations in the area.

Thats really a shame. I hope he had insurance so he can rebuild.

Was the house full of birds?

I'm so sorry for the loss of his farm operation. I hope he can recoup his losses and get back to growing birds soon

Thanks for the background, anon 1:03.

He and his whole family are good people. He is ethnic Ukrainian and his family en route across Europe, as I was told by his son, passed not far from the German death camps.
