Could The Gordy's Be On A Roll?

Now that the Kratovil Signs are gone they have been replaced with Comegys Signs. I wonder what the gas prices at Sam's Club are today? ;-)

tisk tisk... don't forget your "new format" Joe!

Why would he support Bubba? Didnt he learn in the last election that business and politics dont mix well? His stores lost a lot of business because of it.

Yeah a lot of business lost from politics and personal issues. He brought a outoftowner in to run his stores down to the ground. This BOB form New York is destroying a once thriving store BUT NO MORE. The Gordys have lost a lot of GREAT people they had working for them BECAUSE of this FLUNKIE form New York.. Great move!!!NOT.. Shop elsewhere because practically everyone that is left are the brown nosers and the back stabbers

If I remember right Gordy won the last time around. Lets see I think it was McCain 52% Harris 48%. Harris should have walked away with that race, accept he made some bad decisions.

I thought McCain ran for the President of the United States? Is this McCain related to the Senator?

I don't understand why people feel the need to bash someone's business or criticize someone's job efforts because they have a personal disagreement with ownership of the company. There are many hard working, honest people that work for the Gordy's that are simply trying to earn a living in these tough economic times. Those are the people hurt the worst by all this bad press and negative stabs at the Gordy's.

If you don't like the Gordy's, you can choose not to support their businesses. But have the respect to keep the negativity to a minimum; all it does is hurt the middle-class people who are working for a living.

I don't understand your leap of logic. You have to be from the eastern shore to properly manage a retail/convenience store? Someone from New York isn't capable? This guy has single-handedly run the stores into the ground? Wow, every location is pretty busy whenever I stop in them.

Most people that criticize businesses have actually no business experience themselves, they just think they know everything. Managing a chain of retail locations involves crunching numbers, analyzing spending trends, inventory and labor control, shrink management, monitoring the competition, and many other business skills. Maybe this inferior "outoftowner" from New York was hired for those skills.

According to Joe's pictures, the stores are not doing so well. I have no idea if they do as well as the Wawa or Royal Farms, but I doubt it. I have always thought Joe was wrong about the business being hurt by the politics. I believe people have responded to the poor management of those stores. If gordy has run them the way he runs the fire department, then, his employees probably hate him. He is not well liked at the fire department. He pretends to care about people but it is clear that it is a front for his ego. He only cares about his toys and his popularity. My guess is the employees of those stores feel the same way as the vollies.

Keep the negativity to a minimum? This guy is destroying the savings of the volunteer organizations. He is spending tax payer money which is not his. He may be lying about the need to spend that money, in order to gain access to it!!! Wake up folks. Gordy is a totally negative impact on Salisbury. Those employees know him and his ways probably better than we do!

They may not do as well as Wawa and Royal Farms do. But that's typical eastern shore BS. I don't understand people in this area and their constant support of corporate chains. Applebees and Red Lobster thrive and rake in money, despite their inferior product, while local restaurants struggle to keep the lights on. People buy gas at Royal Farms and coffee at Wawa. Ironically, when little Tommy's Little League team wants a donation they come to a local business for support. But at the end of the season they take the team to Pizza Hut for a party. Just look at north Salisbury... Red Lobster, Olive Garden, the entire mall, Subway, Panera, Barnes and Noble, Bed Bath and Beyond, Best Buy, etc. I could go on forever. All these corporate franchises make millions, yet no one on Delmarva will support their local businesses.

10:33 Bill Gordy did not lose sales. Kratovil won did he not? Soooo most of the voters bought their gas there. Joe had one of his clonies sit there and take pictures in the rare instance he didn't have many custmers. Again people if you didn't learn the first time..Bill Gordy has the right to put whatever he wants on his business property. Get over it!

We don't support the local business because those are the good ole boys who rip us off and steal our tax money. Screw the local business. We know who the good ones are, and we don't need Gordy telling us anonymously where to shop.

Sounds like one of the local business owners is tired of paying for the Delmar Little League! You don't have to do it just because your father did. We all know you don't care about people the way he did, so why fake it? Quit fooling yourself. You certainly aren't fooling us! Leave our Fire Department alone, and leave our taxes alone.

You are right. I deliver to the gordys, and I can tell you this guy is not a good business representative. Also, how do you hire a New Yorker and then, try to claim you're a local business? What's that about? You don't act like a local. The truth is the locals don't like you much anymore. The firedepartment people certainly don't like you.

Do not put Kratovil in the same sentence with Comegys, who played the good democrat for his future run for mayor.

Remember that Bill Gordy was Bubba's treasurer for both runs for council. And Bill Gordy has gotten every single thing (read: toy) he has asked for with Bubba's blessing.

Bubba even voted himself a retirement increase as a volunteer.

How many of you are getting your wallets and behinds out for another mayoral candidate? Or the candidates you like for council?

While you sit here typing away, your friend Bubba has all his friends out getting him votes.

That is a slap in the face to business owners of this area. Not everyone that owns a business on Delmarva is a Gordy, Hearne, or Rinnier. Majority of business owners are middle-class, hard working people who risk everything they ever have to try to run a succesful business and positively contribute to their community. Most are scrambling to make ends meet, certainly not stealing tax money. Business owners PAY taxes, MORE taxes than the average resident. These are the people that need community support, not big money corporations with no ties to the community.

Sorry about your plight, but you are in really bad company here in Salisbury. FO... Who cares????

We have had enought. If you were a serious person, you would have already helped corral these f****ng b***tards into a pen, so we could stone them. Gordy is a pathetic leach. He deserves less than the eastern shore has to offer the lowest criminal. He is a filthy sat***c bas***d. F**k him! And the rest of you eastern shore pathetic residents who don't stand up for your rights.

Well I guess you have said it all. What more needs to be said? It is obvious what we must do now. We must rid ourselves of this misfit Gordy. He no longer belongs in our midst. Lets get rid of him by boycotting his stores. That will end it. Either you are serious about change or you are not. Either he is bad for Salisbury or he is not. Make up your mind. The power of this blog is with the commenters, not the author. Joe has nothing to do with it. If I am wrong, then, write the reasons. Plead your case. Otherwise, embrace the truth and rid ourselves of this demon. I say DOWN WITH GORDY! What say you? Do you have power? Are you serious about your convictions? Or, are you simply spouting off on the internet? Sieze the Day! Use your Illusion! Be Ye Reconciled!

If I remember correctly this area mostly voted for Harris. It was other more populated areas that voted for Kratovil.
Bill Gordy does have a right to put up anything he wants. I also have the right NOT to shop there and I don't.

ANON 1:41 Been there Done That. I KNOW ALL ABOUT how to run a high volume convenience store. This guy they have hired is a REAL JERK OFF. He will single handedly run tese stores down to the ground. He KNOWS nothing about how we on the eastern shore run OUR businesses. He doesn't know how to talk with the employees or even the vendors that service the stores. EVERYONE that I have talked with CAN NOT stand this jerk form New York. The few employees that are there are only there because of the way the economy is. Believe me if there were other jobs hiring right now the good ones would be gone. This out of towner doesn't know how to talk to people..Have you ever spoke with him? Probably not but maybe good for you.
ANON 4:23 AMEN!!!!

Please put this topic back to the top of the list. I think the people in the area still have some bottled up frustrations to get off their chests....TeeHee
