Today is . . . Tie One On Day

Today is Wednesday, November 26, 2008. Today is "Tie One On Day."

Yes, I thought the same thing, it's a day to drink and be merry . . . but it isn't.

Tie One On Day celebrates the humble apron and the spirit of women of
earlier generations who donned the universal symbol of home, family and mothering as
the uniform of their daily wardrobe and helped make America the great country it is
today.

On the eve of Thanksgiving, wrap a loaf of bread in an apron and tuck a prayer or
note of hope in the pocket. Tie One On...an apron of course, and deliver the wrapped
bread to someone without bounty and in need.

The American dream got to expensive and momma went to work and left the house. Now some person at day-care raises the baby, the dinner is processed shit, the dinner table is useless and the American dream came un-glued. We have no remnant of what once was the American dream, its a memory talked about in fairy tail books.

Anon 9:18 I am sorry for you nonetheless, I agree with you on some points. Mama did leave the house to chase the almighty dollar so they could afford to live in a huge house they feel gives them status. I've often wondered how many people live in these huge homes that are being built around town. I ride down Camden Ave, Church St, Vine St and remember that once upon a time 2 or 3 generations shared those homes. They were in fact homes. Today they are merely houses and a place to store the material things people think they need to provide a better life. Look around you, all you really need is your loved ones and all that comes with them. Money isn't everything, it truly is the root of all evil.

In our home we don't cook the processed foods that make life simple. It truly is a harvest feast. Everything on our table was either grown by us or prepared by us from scratch. Everyone in my family participates in the preparation of this feast. We will have 3 generations in the kitchen cooking a meal fit for our family and friends. Our way of life may not suit the masses we, on the other hand, wouldn't have it any other way. Our grandchildren will have many of the ways of old to carry into the future with them. It is my prayer they continue teaching their future generations in the same manner.

You are more than welcome to come sit at our table and share a meal.
