Dear Employees,
As the CFO of this business that employees 140 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our next President, and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way.
To compensate for these increases, I figure that the Clients will have to see an increase in our fees to them of about 8% but since we cannot increase
our fees right now due to the dismal state of our economy, we will have to lay off six of our employees instead. This has really been eating at me for a while, as we believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who will have to go.
So, this is what I did. I strolled thru our parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem. These folks wanted change; I gave it to them.
If you have a better idea, let me know.

You're setting the stage for a real solution to all our problems.
Is there anything constructive that you can think of for us to do, short of impeaching our president-elect? It would be more helpful to use this forum to shed light on POSITIVE steps that we can take, as a country (we could start with the city of Salisbury).
Please, for the sake of all that's American, use your considerable intellegence, and your powerful and influential blog, to show us a better way. Be the grown-up American citizen here, instead of a sour grape.
Don't feel too bad they will have better insurance then they currently have.
Give me a break. What is this drivel Joe. If you want to pick sides, and you seem to, the truth is that YOUR side got us into this situation with no regulations on capitalism, no regulations on much of anything, especially business, and the financial institutions.
You cannot have it both ways, and free capatilism, means greed, and as you have just seen the ruination of the economy of our country and many others. People with your sentiments are not very smart, to call Obama names, and accuse him of the anti american sentiment that you must harbor yourself, because you are so selfish and ego centered. NO ONE in your party even tried to curtail the greed and the averis of your President and his friends. Sorry
Joe, you are 100% wrong, and history will prove that in order to save this country and many other countries from complete economic disaster we must get our economy under control, and the theives have taken all the money off shore.This all happened on your watch, we decided that it was necessary to change the crew. So what would you have Obama do? The problams have to be fixed, then we can get on with the governamce: by the people for the people. We are in the emergency room Joe, and your life will be saved by a person of color, like it or not...
I figure if I get saved, it will be by my own hand. That is if the government leaves me any money to do it.
what the heck is this? We have the right, in this country, to vote for who we want. the lack of american values you have is an insult to the rest of us. An employer has no right to fire employees because of who they vote for.
Your vote is supposed to contribute to the betterment of the Nation.
If you vote for someone who willfully admits that they will raise corporate taxes which will result in layoffs and you openly support them; then you must reap what you sow.
If an employer has to choose between two good employees and one of them voted for Obama then that employer can terminate on the basis that the employee does not put the best interest of company first.
It's called capitalism.

Here's something for those offended that you haven't contributed something "constructive"-try BOHICA, defined as: cooperate to the fullest extent because you have no more choice in the matter.
Hey, maybe that is how Tom Becker decided who to lay off. Maybe he went outside and saw 10 - 15 cars with McCain stickers and he laid them all off, without warning, severance or nothing.
