Today is Veteran's Day. This American holiday honors military veterans. It is also celebrated as Armistice Day, Remembrance Day, Anzac Day and Volkstrauertag in other parts of the world.
The first Veteran's Day was on November 11, 1919. President Wilson proclaimed this day with the following: "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing which it has freed us and because of the opportunity is has given America to show her empathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations . . . "

Joe or Sunny, today is a city, county and federal holiday and the offices are closed, but the county schools are still in session. Am I missing something here? Don't they teach us the importance of our veterans anymore?
Obama needs to lift the ban (which Bush started) on photographs of the dead coming into Dover. A sobering reminder of why this war must end.
The media controls the war propaganda. Near the end of the Vietnam war they posted the death count in daily headlines and on each and every network news program.
My comment above may be over the top for this post, I meant no disrespect. I will be remembering Veteran's Day putting a flag on my fathers grave. Salute to all.
9:33 - No disrepecting here. One day to "remember" makes me ill. How can something so significant be so "un"significant to America.
America take whole months to reflect on breast cancer awareness, black history, diabetes, etc.
