If you find out any names of people involved, please let us know.

Somehow that doesn't surprise me.

someone must have said the obama word??

Those kids involved in this type of action should be expelled from school and NEVER allowed to return. Why should our children be put into this kind of danger!! Hopefully someone from the board will step up and take action on this!!! I know they like to throw things of this matter under the rug!!! They need to realize there are gangs in CHS and STOP ignoring it when heard!!!! Born and rasied in somerset county I know how things are run....

People like to "gloss" over it and act like it is not there, but there is alot of racial tension and criminal elements in that high school.
There are alot of good, law abiding and hard working people in Crisfield but unfortunately there is what I like to call a "thug factor",guys with no visible means of financial support who live pretty well, leaving no mystery as to what they do-and not a whole lot is being done about it.The bad guys do not even attempt to conceal their lifestyle and it trickles down to the younger generations. There is a very large housing project that is rife with crime and as soon they clean up one mess in there, someone else oozes in to take their place.

Just to clarify, this has nothing to do with Obama!!! I work with the mother of two of the boys involved. It is a case of the school doing nothing about the bullying and harrassment that takes place. The mother has been to the school on several occasions to address the bullying that is taking place. From what she has told me this has been building up for over 2 years now.

Several of the boys involved just returned to school after spending some time at Alternative school for such behaviors. Seems they haven't learned. As for at least two of the boys they were defending themselves. What were they supposed to do just stand there and get beaten up.

I am not mentioning the names of the two boys for their own and their family's privacy. They are after all juveniles.

If somebody is picking on you for no reason you gotta stand up for yourself. Even if you lose you won.

My granddaughter was the victim of abuse in school and the school would not do anything about it. She is a sensitive child and that made her even more vulnerable to bullies. What are parents to do, sit in the classes themselves? It seems that bullies are running the world! If this behavior is unacceptable then the school administrators needs the support of the community to end it!!

The major problem here is that there is a social network of kids who's mantra is "we can do anything bad we want and neither teachers, parents, or police can touch us for doing it, so let's just see how bad we can be." Our juvenile system can only hold maybe a couple of dozen of the worst ones, and the alternative schools are having a hard time with the current laws we have.
Let's just set one school building aside for these kids, make it a 24 hour lock down. Forget putting teachers there, they need to be teaching our kids who want to learn. Jailers are all the staff necessary until they decide they would rather be in school. It may take more than one school building, though, but until we are allowed to reprimand and arrest our own kids, they are being allowed to run the show. We parents are helpless if we abide by Maryland Law.

Totmom: Do tell how you know that there are racial tensions in this school. There was no mention that race was involved. Due tell please.

It is not just a Crisfield problem. These things occur on a fairly regular basis in Wicomico County High Schools as well.
It truly is a sad commentary on what our society has become.

I think alot of the responsibility lays on the parents shoulders. If they cannot or will not control their juvenile delinquent offspring, then they have no right to expect the public school system to do so.If the kids will not conform to acceptable conduct, then they should be expelled-period.Too bad corporal punishment is no longer allowed....
And I STILL cannot get a straight story on what happened despite my asking many parents.Almost everyone is telling me it was a brawl pitting white students vs black students.I sure hope the school board will issue a statement soon.

I am just repeating what I have been told by parents of students at CHS,as well as what people in the community have told me.Where theres smoke, theres fire, because obviously alot of people are hearing this from their kids and relaying it.Don't shoot the messenger!

Blutothetotmom,
Again, I say, if a parent swats his or her child, they WILL be charged with an offense and be subject to an interview with JSS. The siblings are also pulled out of class and interviewed without parent notification. All this is to find evidence against the parents, and is kept on record "to protect our children". Mine once ran out of the house after committing an offense, and had a bloody nose from the run, and when she got to the neighbor's house, initiated another JSS move. I did nothing but to holler at her. Kids just LOVE this stuff! Until Maryland Law changes, kids will enjoy this privilege.

Fights are going to break out. I see a lot of "what has society come to?" You never had/saw fights back in your day? Same game, different players.

And asking parents what happened when a fight breaks out at a high school is just a waste of time. Their kid is never in the wrong, and the "system" is out to single their child out and not protect them. Bullies arn't new. Sucks, but that's life.

I love how this is automatically a black/ white issue. People, please. Get a life- not EVERYTHING is about race. Although throughout the election I have come to believe that white people are some of the most ignornant of the bunch- and yes, I'm white. The fight at CHS was an athletic issue, which is a shame in itself- poor sportsmanship, and lack of team work. It was also apparently a Crisfield vs. Marion issue. So open your eyes, there is more conflict in life than the old faithful race card.

I think this tot person should shut his/her trap before spouting off without any hard facts.

This "tot person" only reported what she was told by TWO different CHS parents, who got their info from their kids.OK?
There have been no less than 4 different reasons for the brawl suggested on this blog,so who REALLY knows other than those involved in the melee?Again, don't shoot the messenger,I am just repeating what two parents told me.

i don't see why this is a big deal, fights used to happen atleast 2 times a day when i was in school. sounds like crisfield police just couldnt handle theirs.

There was a board meeting last night. At least 2 of the students are going to be expelled. They both have had issues in the past of this sort and have already gone to Alternative school. As for the rest of the students involved they are still reviewing the tapes of the incident before they decide what they are going to do with the other 6. (yes there are tapes of the fight)

i'd like to suggest to the "tot mom" that she get a life also. did you know that the teacher that was assalted was done so by a white student! and that the initial fight started between two african american students! or that the white student jumped in to help his black friend? these are the facts. saw it all know all the participants and as much as i hate the situation i can just bet the white kid will get the less punishment. trust me we always do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the 3rd and last time,I only passed on what I was told by a parent.Whatever it was about,I hope all the parties involved learn a lesson from it.
