Giving Thanks Around Thanksgiving

You have to admit, this group of animals available TODAY are absolutely adorable. I can't believe people go into Pet Stores and purchase puppy mill animals when you can get one of these guys.

Now look. Everyone knows the animals we've been Posting have been adopted usually the very same day we put them up. Drop into the Humane Society tomorrow, (they're closed Monday's) and take a look around. You just never know what you'll walk out of there with. Or how many!

If you're interested in donating some of your time by coming in and walking some dogs, don't hesitate to call the Humane Society and give them a helping hand. Oh, if YOU adopt one of these animals, please come back here and let us know.

Thursday is Thanksgiving. Don't you want to bring one of these guys home for the Holidays?

Back by popular demand.

We adopted a great cat eight years ago (almost nine) from the Humane Society and we still have him. What a great cat to have around even though he has his days. Our lives would have never been the same without him - he is part of the family and the house would feel empty without him. Right now he is doing his favorite thing - sleeping on the bed with the sun shining on him. What a Lucky cat!

I adopted 2 cats from there and they are spoiled rotten and wouldn't have it any other way :) I agree with 9:08 they have a great life doing their favorite things like sunning themselves, getting a good belly rub, or cuddling up in the bed with me or the kids.

I have two but if I could I'd take them all. I've aways had pound hounds and they've all been indoor and well trained.

I'm still a little gun shy about the Humane Socity. I will admit, the last time I adopted a dog from there was in the 80's and I don't even know who ran it at the time. But as I expected, within minutes, I found and fell in love with the perfect dog. He had a crooked tail and when I asked about it, I was told it was like a birth defect. I thought, ok, I'll come up with a cute name like Bender or something because of his bent tail. When I got him home, I realized how bad he smelled and determined he needed a bath. As he was loving the attention, I noticed something brown floating in the water. I said..Oh you..silly ( still had not named him yet ) you've pooped in the tub. I grabbed a scoop to get it out and to my surprise, it was the 3 or so inches of his tail floating! It must have been broken and starting to heal and the "dead" part fell off. I can't believe the pound overlooked this. He turned out to be one of the best dogs I ever had. Again, I realize that the chain of command has changed but I will never forget how they let this poor dog go without medical attention. I am thinking about going out there again and may adopt a kitten. I have to believe things are better there now then they were that long ago so will give them the benefit of the doubt because of the nice things said on here!

My husband and I adopted an abused dog from the Humane Society. They gave him wonderful care and saved his life. The staff gave us directions for helping him cope with his new surroundings, for getting his weight up where it needed to be, for his medical care, for training him, etc. It could not have been a better experience.

Blah blah blah. Joe, do your readers a huge service and tell them the truth. Stop ignoring posts to protect Linda Lugo. Tell them about that great investigation you know about.

Oh, and to Anon 8:56 -- don't let your guard down. The Humane Society still has TONS of issues. Best of luck with the new kitten.

anonymous 5:13,

As you and I know who you are, I'll respect your privacy. That being said, don't you dare think for a single minute people will NOT be held accountable for their actions.

You need to remember what OUR deal was. This is about the ANIMALS first. Can we agree on that?
