OK, so maybe it wasn't shown over and over, but surely it was shown on TV at least one time, wasn't it ?
This was the largest re-enlistment ceremony ever held in military history. The ceremony was held on the 4th of July, 2008 at Al Faw Palace, Baghdad , Iraq . General David Petraeus officiated. This amazing story was ignored by the 'mainstream' media.
For those who have been in the Al Faw Palace, you'll have a better appreciation of the number of people crammed around the rotunda supporting the re-enlisting soldiers.
American men and women volunteering to stay longer in Iraq, so that when we leave, the new democracy will have a chance of surviving, is the exact opposite of what the media wants you to think about Iraq. If only a bomb had killed 5 civilians in a marketplace - now that's the kind of news the media is eager to tell you about.
A pizzeria in Chicago donated 2000 pizzas that were made and shipped to Baghdad , and were delivered on the 4th.
The media did report that 2000 pizzas were sent to Iraq on July 4th... The only part they left out of the report was the event for which the pizzas were sent.
I can't help but wonder...
What would the opinion of Americans be if they weren't getting such obviously biased 'news?'

I too re-enlisted during a war. It was the first gulf war.
The sense of honor, duty, and patriotism that you feel when you are part of something so great is undescribable. Most of these patriots are younger than 25 and have experienced more about giving it all for the ring of freedom's bell then most liberal pen haters.
I applaud our country, I applaud our young men and women, and I applaud president Bush for his vision and determination to not let the people of Iraq fall into slaughter from a political pullout.
Iraq will will be a wonderful ally just like Germany and Japan. Those countries didn't turn into wealthy democracies overnight. Those countries also didn't have so many terrorists from other countries battling against them while trying to rebuild from the previous war. I will remind you all. We already won the war against Iraq and the terrible dictator. We liberated them a long time ago. Who we are fighting now are the terrorists who don't want freedom and democracy as their neighbor.
The Military is an Honorable profession.God keep them safe.thanks to them we have our freedom.

I do not support this war, but I have the utmost respect for every soldier who is now, or has ever served. I cannot thank them enough for their service and sacrifice.
That said, snopes reports that the largest re-enlistment ceremony ever did happen as reported, but that the e-mail making the rounds is inaccurately reporting that the MSM did not cover this event. It was covered. Perhaps folks don't remember,since it was nearly 3 months ago.
God Bless our troops. This should definitely been reported on the media, but our media only wants to report the negative about Iraq. Thanks Joe for keeping us on the Eastern Shore informed.

If that is true, (which I'm not doubting you) I never saw it. Therefore many thousands of others didn't as well. Perhaps YOU would like to start your own Blog and be more up to date than me?
May God walk with them as they perform their duties in Iraq and Afganistan, as He has walked with us all through many a conflict. Fantastic renlistment cerimony from what I could see. Most people don't realize how important it is that our combat vets reenlist in large numbers. Keep up the great efforts at peace in the world guys and gals!

Once again...I have this debate on another thread; but although this photo appears "warm and fuzzy," why are you not allowed to see the less "fuzzy" pictures of KIA coffins coming into Dover? Do you really think someone as On-the-ball/confrontational as Joe would miss such a photo-op if he was physically/legally able to obtain the image? I have given up trying to get you to look at this morally. Look in your driveway, and later at your dinner table. How much does it cost your family IN ONE DAY to survive? Now think about how much it takes in bribes to insurgent tribal leaders, gas for Abrams tanks and air superiority cover, and MREs/clothing alone (ammo/ordnance is purchased separately) for over 100,000 troops (We haven't added the Afghani theater yet). Save your "Hoo-Rah" phony enthusiasm for unfrozen political dwellers from 2002!!!! I am all too familiar with your customs and ways(i.e. b.s.).
I do belive there may be the son of a Salisbury Fire Fighter in that group.
Really unfortunate. They are the true patriots of this country. Bring them home.
