Ignore The Wooden Arrow Company?

I just listened to a U.S. Senator on CNN state that we should ignore the Pork added to the Bailout Bill because Americans would be more upset with our Government if the Bill doesn't go through.

No Sir, WE would NOT!

He added that if the Bill doesn't go through they'll simply have to keep trying until they get something passed because Americans would be very upset if Congress simply went home without passing this Bill.

OK, how do YOU feel about it?

I would like to add. Social Security has been in trouble for 30+ years and we've survived. They say it will run out in 2030. No one said the Mortgage Industry was in financial trouble for as many years, yet we're looking at an immediate $700 billion Bailout.

I'd also like to remind everyone, back around 9-11 the Airline Industry got, (I believe) a $10 Billion Bailout, $5 billion of it was a loan. Did they ever pay that back??????

Chrysler need help back in the early 1980's or somewhere around that time and they were given 10 years to pay it back and I believe they did so in 6 years. Of course one of the ways they did so was the fact that most municipalities, Police Departments and so forth had to purchase the K-Car for their vehicles. Our own Government actually bailed them out but at least they got something for their money.

In the case of this Bailout, I disagree with the Senator being interviewed. CNN kept trying to say, if the Bill is so important, why can't you deliver a Bill without ANY Pork to it and the Senator just kept saying, FORGET THE PORK and look at the bigger picture. The Pork in this bill is so minute it doesn't matter.

I say, FIRE ALL OF THEM and let's get a new Senate and Congress and get back to the old America you and I grew up with. A message from Senator Andy Harris will be coming some time tonight or early tomorrow morning referencing this matter. While he was firmly against the Bill at the SU Debate the other night, have the changes changed his mind? Will he stick to his guns? SBYnews.com will let you know just as soon as his message comes in.

Remember Joe, there ain't no more America like you and I grew up in.
I suspect in excess of 50% of the voting population are from the "you owe me" generation.
Or they are come here's (foreigners) who have been taught this country is a great big Pinata.
So us old timers might as well suck it up and realize we are out voted by the "YOMG."

It's the point of adding Pork - (like the Wooden Arrows Company) - to an emergency bill. 150 Billion has been added to the bail out bill.

We didn't send our elected officials to stuff their face with Special Interest Pork. We sent them to do a job.

Kind of like our Constitutional right for it to be better to release 10 guilty people as opposed to incarcerating 1 innocent person.

I hope the hell we all send them a message that we are tired of their Shennagins on our dime.

I know what id like to do with those wooden arrows.

If Harris waffles or says he would vote for it after he voted against it he has lost my support, which will go to Kratovil or the Libertarian candidate.

I learned of another Pork insert.

Up three hundred dollar per employee tax credit for every employer who reimburses employees for the purchase of bicycles, repairs of bicycles, and storage for said bicycles, provided those employees use those bicycles as a primary mode of transportation to and from work.

What in hell does that have to do with bailing out financial institutions?

These idiots just don't get it. This alleged bailout does nothing to help the common person. Let the banks fall!! We will survive if the energy prices that drive our everyday expenses through the roof are brought to a tolerable level.

Theres so much pork in this plan thats its crazy and they think we are stupid. Come election time VOTE their azz's out! Its not just a few dollars its millions. How convenient that they would not answer their phones today according to what was reported on the radio. This bill should NOT pass.

You got that right Joe. Fire all the Senators and Congressmen and set some new rules for them, like no pork or earmarks can go with any bill. None whatsoever!!! And by the way, cut their salary down so they won't want to do the job needed just to be paid fancy high salaries.

grand dad:

good comment -- what a basis for fraud that will be (Hey, I just decided to buy a bike).

I'm with you....Fire them ALL!
Every single one of them.
That will bring true change, may be for the better, may even be worse but we've gotta do SOMETHING.
An American Revolt???

And get rid of the lifetime pensions too! That's one of the reasons a lot of them don't do anything constructive. They know as long as they serve 1 term, they're set for life.
How is this any different that why we're bailing out banks and financial institutions who give the huge severances? In my opinion, it's the same thing, just on a smaller scale and the American people are paying for it dearly.
I'm also at the same time in favor of term limits.

Hey Andy:

Your silence is deafening, and we are all ears about your position on this latest bailout abortion bill.

Adding this crap to the bill is really bullshit. With that said, if it gets this bill passed then it is a necessary evil. If you don't get that then you do not understand the crisis this economy is in. How does double digit unemployment grab you? How bout massive poverty, health and public assistance drains on those of you who will still be able to pay taxes? Get a grip folks, this ain't no joke.

You know what really amazes me is that the same people who are slamming this economic rescue are silent while we spend a trillion dollars on a war to nowhere.
