The bailout brawl seems to have helped Obama, who has opened up a mid-single digit or better lead in most recognized polls and is getting 50% or more support in some. Unless Palin pulls off a miraculous "big win" in the debate tonight, it may be over a month before the election. That noise you hear is the Fat Lady practicing the vocal scale.

Joe. I applaud your candor and objectivity here. I know you support McCain, and it is refreshing you would at least acknowledge the bounce to Obama (I will vote Green/Libertarian instead of going this far in the other direction) that lame duck, W., has given his opponents as his house of delusional cards collapses around him before he can even pack his suitcases. I am not an Obama supporter-Instead, I really believe we owe it to our country to vote third-party here. We all deserve better than Coke/White vs. Pepsi/Black (no racist undertones intended or supported). I for one would enjoy a refreshing orange soda or root beer for a couple terms.
I've got a newsflash for you folks. This election was over months ago. McSame or any other Republican never had a chance. The only thing keeping it close in the polls was Obama's complextion. Now that he's been out there and people see him and not McSame as Presidential the fat lady is singing.
Go Obama! McCain was the wrong guy for Republicans to choose. Had this been Romney, the race would be a lot closer. I think tonight's debate, no matter how it goes, will not trump the economy as the major issue, and McCain is showing his "maverick" nature is really to be impulsive. We need a steady hand right now, and McCain is not a steady guy.
Its not over yet. Just wait. McCain is going to pull it off and the win will be bigger than you think. The media is in for a surprise because they will have lost after all they did to get Obama elected.

Many of us would have a different mindset if Romney/Giuliani, instead of Tina Fey, were the sanctioned VP (or even better;TOP P)....We are smart enough to realize that as much as Palin exclaims her foreign policy experience by watching Russia with her "Dora the Explorer" binoculars, as a card-carrying Republican we can expect vodka prices to quintuple (sort of like when you elect a Texas idiot with oil connections to control your domestic/foreign energy policy)if she is elected. The Who is playing here soon (well, not in Salisbury..); while you are sharpening up on whether the Pledge of Allegiance should include the word "god"; also Google the lyrics to "We Won't Get Fooled Again." I am a little tired of the "old boss"....

Obama has pulled out a number of states. Does that make McCain the winner? The press is so far in the bag for the lib, it is just a joke.
I see when McCain loses it will be all the fault of the press. Way to spin it!
The polls are the polls--if it were just 1 or 2, I would say they might be biased. But every major poll shows a significant shift towards Obama. It might not last, but I think people are starting to get pretty concerned about Palin being a potential commander in chief. McCain is 72 years old, and Palin just is not ready to be president, no matter what happens in the debate tonight. Do you really want her meeting with foreign leaders, negotiating with Putin, deciding where to send the troops? Not me. If McCain chose Romney as his running mate, maybe I would vote for him, but no way can I risk having Palin as our president.

Some people. Obama supporters - stop declaring victory!! think how much has happened in the last month,this is not the time to get cocky.
McCain supporters...stop complaining about the media being in the tank or the bag for anybody. Considering they mostly only talk about Sarah Palin these days, your whining doesn't really hold water. Both sides are getting hit with whatever is getting ratings. They'll say whatever they need to to keep you tuned in. It has nothing to do with favoritism.
I don't believe in the polls, because there are too many unpredictable factors and unaccounted for voters.
But I am hoping for an Obama win. He will be the President we need to be strong in the coming depression.
With the economy is obvious trouble months ago I think McCain sealed his fate by not picking a successful real world business man like Mitt Romney. Yes, he appeared to be a little bit plastic but he sure knew how to run a company and a state fiscally.
Well, I happen to think Sara will suprize a lot of folks, including Seantor Biden. So, who says the polls are always right anyway?
I think Palin is doing a good job debating.....but I am so loathe to vote Republican but unlike previous years,I cannot bring myself to vote Democrat either-I am sure there are alot of others out there like me too.
I believe we will see a repeat of the McCain jump after the conventions.
But McCain needs to make it happen. It is unfortunate McCain was for the bailout. That was a mistakes and goes against their change claim.
Maybe Sarah can save McCain but he has to do some work. I believe he will do so. He really needs to get her live on some Cable shows or together on Cable shows.
I hate to say this but if the bailout fails tomorrow and McCain goes to bat for it he could lose the election. He is wrong on the bailout but seems to be too stupid to realize it.
The press just purposely makes her look bad and will never give her a fair chance.
