Dear Greg Bassett:

Now that Gannett has provided nice new facilities for you and the worker bees at the Daily Times, a new logo is in order. I know that Gannett is in the tank these days and won't spring for one -- so I asked the folks who did the SBYnews logo to put together one that is both fittingly cheap and journalistically appropriate. Whadaya think?

Maybe they need something for the advertising dept too.

It might help them to proof ads and publish them correctly.

Compliments of Larry Jock, no doubt.

Bosshogg, I'm sorry there is no solution to your dilemma. You see, Shanie Shields works in that department therefore spelling is not required, nor is timeliness. She stated in a council meeting some time ago when referring to Pam Oland and her getting things timely in the finance department at the city that she understands it. Sometimes things get done and sometimes they don't. Whatcha gonna do? That's her attitude. I know what I'd do. They'd all be in the unemployment line.

I had an idea for a logo too but was unable to pull it off because I couldn't draw a pile of dog shit correctly.

shanie works in classified, not the composing department. maybe the composing department wouldn't have such a hard time getting things done correctly if they didn't keep laying their staff off. they are down to the minimum with a huge workload. but then again, since the sales reps sell the ads and bring in all the money, the composing staff is seen as not really needed. yet if they walked out for a day and there was no one to design all the ads the company would be out hundreds of dollars. but thats ok, they'll just keep working them to death til they all quit and then what will they have.
