Salisbury Police Department Press Releases

On October 10, 2008 at approximately 9:15 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department received a call to respond to the Walmart Store on North Salisbury Boulevard for the report of a shoplifter. Upon arrival, the officers met with store security who advised that the below listed suspect had been observed attempting to take jewelry from the store without making payment. The suspect was stopped and the property was recovered.

ARRESTED: Robert John Willis, 51 years of age Salisbury, Maryland

CHARGES: Theft (under $ 500)

DISPOSITION: Released to Central Booking CC # 200800038110

On October 10, 2008 at approximately 9:34 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department arrested the below listed suspect on an outstanding arrest warrant for an incident that occurred in June of 2008. At that time, it was reported to the Salisbury Police that while staying at the residence of a family member, the below listed suspect had taken a number of checks and had forged and cashed the checks at local banks.

ARRESTED: Michael Jack Elliott, 29 years of age Parsonsburg, Maryland

CHARGES:
Forgery of private documents (25 counts)
Issuing false documents (25 counts)
Theft (under $ 100)
Theft scheme (over $ 500)

DISPOSITION: Released to Central Booking CC # 200800022480

On October 10, 2008 at approximately 11:30 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to a residence on the 500 block of Alabama Avenue for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, the officers met with a victim who advised that during a domestic type argument, the below listed suspect had physically assaulted her. During the assault the victim was also sexually assaulted.

ARRESTED: Antonio Lamar Lewis, 37 years of age Pocomoke, Maryland

CHARGES:
Second degree assault
Second degree rape
Second degree sex offense
Fourth degree sex offense

DISPOSITION: Released to Central Booking CC # 200800038199

On October 12, 2008 at approximately 1:13 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to the 400 block of Harden Court for the report of a burglary. Upon arrival, the officers checked a vacant residence and found that the below listed suspects had broken into and were currently inside of the residence.

ARRESTED #1: Wendy Marie Strail, 23 years of age Salisbury, Maryland

CHARGES: Third degree burglary

ARRESTED #2: Cletus Deshine Whaley, 22 years of age Pocomoke, Maryland
ARRESTED #3: Michael Granville Purnell, Jr., 23 years of age Pocomoke, Maryland

CHARGES (#2, #3)
Third degree burglary
Malicious destruction of property
Conspiracy to commit third degree burglary
Conspiracy to commit malicious destruction of property

DISPOSITION: All three (3) suspect released to Central Booking
