One of the biggest topics of last nights Crime Task Force Meeting was this address, 600 W. Railroad Ave.
In 1991 there were 2 calls to the SPD to this address. In 2008 there were 63 calls to this same address. Heck, in 2006 there were 84 calls to this address. This is just ridiculous!
While standing outside the building, several people pulled up and said, if you want stories on crime around here, we'll give them to you. One of them was the Car Dealership on Rt. 13 not far from this location.
Mr. Dan Morris of GNI saw me inside the building and politely asked that I leave. He didn't say he was from GNI but as soon as I leaned this I respected his position and followed his request. GNI is the company that manages this complex where there are quite a few apartments.
As busy as Code & Compliance is, its good to see them out there checking on the safety of the people living in such quarters. The SPD were there to help assist the Inspectors and hopefully this will help lower the crime at this particular address letting everyone know certain eyes are now upon them.
Hopefully we'll receive a report of their findings in the near future.

Didn't that used to be a school or something? How can you go from a school or a business to residential? Isn't that against the law. Can someone explain that to the citizens?
As long as the city is 80% rental there will always be a high crime rate.

Who is RSLW Associates? Their address is 312 W. Main St. They bought this from Dawn Foskey. When Dawn Foskey owned it, she used it as Woodbridge Business Institute until she relocated out to the K Mart Shopping Center. The school is now closed, sadly.
Terry Sell owned it with all his doctor investor buddies before Chandler bought them all up.
If it used to be Woodbridge Business Institute then someone made an illegal use converting it to rental housing. Someone should pay the fines immediately and go to jail for the criminal acts.

1:52 What charges are you talking about. There was no crime here. What this is is a way for the police dept to get a look inside someones home without a search warrant. There are no CHARGES to GNI.

The Salisbury fire department doesn't look for or handle code violations.

I just came to learn that GNI was tipped off by the Tilghman Administration the day before the inspection. This is just unbelievable.
Joe, The Tilghman Administration has been helping the slum lords for quite some time now. Why do you think they aren't doing any more "random rental inspections" anymore?
Joe, do you know when the last rental inspection sweep was done? If memory serves me that was supposed to happen every quarter?
Gary Chandler is as big a crook as his Dad, Les. As far as them being tipped off before the inspection we shouldn't be surprised. That woman protects all of her crook friends. Lets hope her-kind of protection won't be around after the next election.

Permission has to be granted by the property owner to enter the building. So this was probably scheduled. Any city official or anyone else for that matter can not just enter a building without either permission or an administrative search warrant.

All those police calls to that address?Salisbury should follow Crisfields lead-the Chief of Police in Crisfield works closely with the Building Inspector and when police respond to incidents at a rental property,the landlord is notified so that proper steps can be taken to remove the menace.Then again,none of the slumlords in Salisbury give a crap about renting to criminals because they do not have to live in these neighborhoods.From their perspective,the tenant can be making pipe bombs or meth in the kitchen,as long as they pay their rent on time.
I will give a thumbs up to Michael Weisner though....when I lived in Salisbury I searched property records on a neighboring address with alot of drug traffic and after learning Weisner owned the property I called his office with my concerns.Within days the offending neighbor was evicted,and the swift action of Mr.Weisner made a huge impression on me.Too bad the other landlords have no integrity.

Come on, criminals are entitled to housing too. Who else is going to live there? Someones got to own them, of course unless you want more government housing and have taxes even higher. The rewards of owning this kind of property are often offset, to some degree, by the risks. I'm sure if anyone would care to buy these kind of properties and do a better job, you could contact the owners.
spdstinks sounds like you've either had cuffs on before or jealous...no need to be jealous be your own man or woman, try to accomplish your own things.

dunno who you're talking about on win some cases, most at spd know how to do real police work. You seem disgruntled and have mental issues or else you wouldn't have so much pent up frustration at a point that you don't seem to have any ideas on. I would be willing to wager that your life accomplishments couldn't even begin to touch the shoe soles of the men and women that work at SPD, let alone the proactive cops that spd has. So if it takes you sitting behind a computer screen touching keys on a keyboard to feel like a real man or woman, then all i can say is your welcome for the freedom that spd gives you by doing there best to maintaint freedom and order for all....have fun being a keyboard cowboy
What kind of permits were required to convert form the business school to a boarding house? It would be nice to see a school there again. A school htat could prepare local people for jobs in technical fileds. Welding is in high demand, but Wor-Wic only has one class as far as I know. Think outside the box. This is no way to warehouse people and we have to break the cycle of poverty by attracting employers and traiing people for better jobs.
