"Beat The Peak" Today

“Peak Alert”

TODAY

Be Energy Aware Between 4 PM & 6 PM

Because of the slow track of the rain into our area today and the higher than normal temperatures, between the hours of 4 pm and 6 pm today, we are asking you to turn off all unnecessary lights or appliances that may not be needed. We are asking you to delay major appliance usage such as dishwashers, washing machines and clothes dryers and if you can delay any hot water usage.

Your Co-op cannot do this alone. We need your Help.

Together we can “Beat The Peak” by using our electricity resources wisely.

Thank you.

Why dont you fix and up-grade you relic of a power system. how much do your excecutives make, how much money is thrown to no use on your end. Were on your line and our power goes out over the last couple of years if a tick takes a piss, its a joke.

Damn it I have been doing what you all [DPL] have been recommending for over 15 18 yrs. now.I have up graded to central heat/air, replace an old roof, replaced old windows with new ones, replaced water heater with energy saver, new cook top,new washer/dryer.The wife for the past same yrs haves always washed clothes/essentials in the evening hours.I dont see any reduction in our electric use or cost and all I have to say to you is BS.

Next week, they'll ask us to beat the peak because we'll need to turn on the heat...

Yesterday's explanation offered was good, but I wonder, since we are at the end of the line, will we always need to "beat the peak" while the consumers closer to Old Dominion use the available power?

Choptank has cancelled their pending load control for today. Apparently, the anticipated peak load did not materialize, due to the cooling effect of the impending storm.

Here is the prior post with a detailed explanation of how those utilities have to purchase power, and determine peak periods. Look for the last comment on the link.
