Mo-ped?

"this is from your buddies over at delmarvanow.com did you know that moped is
hyphenated? according to most dictionary's they don't see it that way. just
thought that the main topic of the story should be spelled right.

REHOBOTH BEACH — A vehicle crashed into a mo-ped in Rehoboth Beach late
Wednesday afternoon, seriously injuring the mo-ped driver, Emily Arias, 26, of
Rehoboth Beach.

State police said Arias was northbound on Del. 1 when a Honda Civic driven by
Ligia Graner, 29, of Rehoboth Beach, merged onto the road and crashed into the
mo-ped.

Arias, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered head and upper-body injuries and
was airlifted to Christiana Hospital.

Graner was cited for failing to yield the right away."

The use of columns in a newsprint format leads to some words getting hyphenated as to fit the column width. Don't get your panties all in a bunch over it.

Does anyone else see the irony in this?

If that is the case, then I would think they would rewrite the story so that it would fit in the space provided and not look stupid once printed.
Who's editing over there? I don't think anybody is.
