I read Mr. Alessi's letter in this mornings Disappointment. I am most dismayed that this staunch Republican believes more government is necessary.
As a "real" Republican he should believe in and support less government even if the result is less than the best.
Nothing good can come from a group of appointed persons stone-walling the public in the name of doing good,as they define it.
Some months back I posted on this subject and stated that employees of the North Dispensary are great people and very helpful. However I also suggested that government should not be in the liquor business or for that matter any
business.
I would challenge any member of the Liquor Board to point out a government run and or funded enterprise that is as efficient as the private sector.
As to the construction project supplied by Mr Alessi "even though it hurt to do so" he should be smart enough to know that this kind of gratuitous effort on his part would never pass the "smell" test.
If I was a beer distributor in this County I would be raising more "Hell" than a man on a wrong train, at the prospect of competing against a government enterprise.
Oh by the way Mr Alessi I like to buy a 6 pack and a bottle of wine when I gas up. How soon can I expect the Liquor Board to recommend gas pumps as a customer convenience, as you do with cigarettes.
Mr. Alessi is in it for the money.
I don't think they sell smokes anymore. Wasn't enough money in it. He's resigned from the zoo we can only hope he does the same there.
Why hasn't O'Malley made new appointments? It was always my understanding that when you have a democrat governor, it's 2 democrats and one republican on the board and vice versa during a republican administration.
I've been on both sides, I worked there for 6 years. Managing in restaurants I've had to deal with purchasing from them many years ago. I think when I got the job there I had the "If you can't beat 'um join 'um" attitude." The system is archaic, it time for euthanasia.
why would omalley put 2 democrats in the middle of this? Republicans going after republicans.
When their is a democrat for a governor I believe the bi-laws dictate that the board consist of two democrats and one republican. Democrat for a governor would want a majority of democrats on his boards to further support his or her party.
Why would a democrat governor want a republican majority on any of the state's boards.
