Breaking News On Fernando Guerrero
The highly anticipated fight with ESPN at the Wicomico County Civic Center has been turned away by the Maryland Athletic Commission and Prize Fight Promotions.
ESPN continued to drag their feet on a solid commitment and there simply isn't enough time to properly promote a fight on August 15th, 2008. We're sad for Fernando but that will come very soon.
I have personally dealt with the ESPN group in the past and quite frankly they're a pain in the a$$, IMO. They do drag their feet regularly and wait till the last minute and then they expect everyone to jump through hoops.
Be patient Hal & Fernando, your time is coming.

Joe,you are the best. The one person in the media that truly cares about the kids at the gym and promotes their hopes and dreams.
Joe. Think outside box: at one time people laughed at the prospect of ECW making any money as an independent franchise.....those guys live in rather large homes now due to eventual long-term outcomes...and laugh and laugh and laugh at the myopic crowd around here. Shoot some underground video (don't "Don King" Fernando-make sure he gets a nice taste of the gig)...copyright and distribute it. Repeat as necessary.
ESPN's loss But the biggest loss will be to the Salisbury area and the youth that live here. Maybe a promotional bout of area boxers can be arranged. I for one would be a supporter. I like going to the local gyms when a fight is promoted. I go to support the area youth who are given support, hope and a future from the street.
My hopes are that one day Fernando can tell ESPN where he is going to fight! If he goes Pay Per View it will be ESPN's loss.
