Question of the Day, Fri 7/25

Today's question comes from Joe:

How many of you out there can't stand those little sticky advertising things they put on the front page of the Daily Slime? . . . and other websites, too?

to block pop ups use firefox, and add the ad blocker pro free extension to get rid of any advertising. if one does get through simply right click on it and block it, you wont see any again

If it wasn't for the sticky advertising on the Daily Times on my Sunday paper I would not have change my garbage pick up service. I am saving 80.00 a year and the service is GREAT!!

With all due respect to everyone out there who gets annoyed by pop ups, or most importantly...rollover ads, that cover your content when your mouse pointer gets near them.....remember this.....

Most likely you are reading free content. The website has to make advertising revenues, or else they don't put out the content.

Yeah, it sucks to have to dodge the advertising messages, but then again, free is free. Do what Anon 8:16 recommended and run firefox with ad blocker. Shoot, we could have a firefox vs. all others debate too. I only use firefox.

I am no longer annoyed by the stickies placed on the front pages of the DailySlimes. You see, I canceled my subscription weeks ago, so this is no longer an issue or concern of mine.

As for the pop-ups, FireFox seems to get the job done most of the time. There are a couple of sites that seem to get one past its blocking capability, however.... grrrrr.

8:30am I totally agree some of them are really nice ads. But it only takes a couple of secs to take it off and throw in the trash, just about as many as to activate your pop up blocker ;)

Those little sticky things on the front page of the Slime is another reason the paper is delivered late. Those running the press know they jam the machine but they run them through anyway until it jams then they put them on by hand. I know this is true, I am a DT carrier and I have waited to many hours for papers to deliver because of these little sticky things.
